My hope is that if it goes to conflict that Ukrainians fight back. Turn it into an Afghanistan Russia, sure, we lost there too but not militarily, like the N Vietnamese they just waited us out and were willing to sacrifice lives.

Russia were clowns and totally inept.

Hopefully we feed the Ukrainians enough hardware to humiliate the skis in the field, but that depends on the Ukrainians. If they want to be an independent nation they will fight for it,
If not they will fold and the US needs to get the hell out.

    Trump praises Putin…..

“Former President Donald Trump praised Vladimir Putin in a podcast interview on Tuesday, describing the Russian president's justification for invading Ukraine as "savvy" and "genius."

"I went in yesterday, and there was a television screen, and I said, 'This is genius.' Putin declares a big portion of the Ukraine — of Ukraine — Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that's wonderful," Trump said when asked about the news. "I said, 'How smart is that?' And he's going to go in and be a peacekeeper."

And the Biden administration's response. I mean what can you say when an ex-POTUS fawns over a Dictator, especially one that has turned his country into lesser nation. Fortunately, Biden regrouped our allies after the shambles Trump left, and the severe sanctions will have an impact on Russia.

@OklahomaGator @tilly @rivergator can we just merge these two Ukraine threads? It’s the same discussion at this point and things are even being posted twice in each thread. Maybe an official Ukraine crisis thread or something?

Why do I see some Republicans backing Putin over the U.S. President? So much for patriotism.

    Unfortunately you’re probably correct.

Tucker (2019): "Why do I care what is going on in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia? I'm serious. Why shouldn't I root for Russia? Which by the way I am."

    Not sure.

I’m happy to get political on it by saying that Biden’s monumentally stupid “minor incursion” comments effectively gave Putin the green light to do this, and that the sanctions they announced today - with the possible exception of limiting the trading of Russian bonds on the secondary market - don’t seem to amount to a hill of beans. But I don’t get the “well maybe Russia is right” take on this.

Even if you buy that there’s no reason for us to particularly care about this, I don’t understand accepting Russia’s ham-fisted “we’re in the right here, former Soviet leaders were lazy and gave Ukraine part of Russia to satisfy them, they’re screwing it up, so we need to take it back to protect people who want to be Russian” propaganda.

As of 2016, conservatives love not to know stuff now.

In Trump's warped mind, I'm sure he see this as payback for Ukraine not fabricating evidence against Hunter Biden after his "perfect call".

    It’s worse than that.

In Trump’s malignantly narcissistic mind, it is because Ukraine operated to help HRC over him in 2016 because…and this is the best part…Putin told him so.

And that’s the danger of having a pathological narcissist as President. He thinks of himself and his ego before the national interest. And Putin played him like a fiddle as a useful idiot.

Please all. This isn’t about Trump. He is not president now. Just remember his actions toward NATO, Russia, Putin and the west if he runs again. That is it. Let’s keep this about the situation now

Biden walked that “minor incursion” comment back and was very clear. That didn’t encourage Putin in any way. Putin is a rogue authoritarian.
Putin's 'surreal' version of Ukrainian history alarms experts
