Coach Wise is not a good comparison. Some of Coach Wise's achievements besides being a pioneer in women's volleyball: 24 SEC titles, including 18 straight from 1991-2008 – the Division I record for most consecutive conference titles by a single program – 30 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, eight Final Fours, 15 SEC Coach of the Year honors, and two trips to the NCAA Championship match in 2003 and 2017. These 2 are unreal: she was the first coach in NCAA history to win 100 consecutive games and the first to win 130 conference games. Certainly championship standards. There's plenty more on the UF site under her bio. It pales to CMW's UF bio which seems to strangely focus on strength of schedule.
"Won" the East in his second season. SEC Champs in third season. Mike White doesn't have to be Sully, that's an unreasonable standard. Sully's been here 15 years, and his longest drought without a conference championship is 3 years, one time (current stretch, and that includes one canceled season). Needless to say, Sully is in a completely different category than White (and makes substantially less money, while we're at it...want to talk cost of season tickets or fan support? ) Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Those coaches won SEC titles. I think coach Wise have won over 20 SEC titles. Whereas CMW not so much.
3-1 would certainly get us in. Might not even need any SECT wins. If we also got a tourney win there would be no sweating selection Sunday. The more likely 2-2(2-3) is where it gets sketchy. That’s what it means to be right on the bubble this late in the season. Each “resume” win or bad loss can literally swing you in or out.
The Auburn win was nice, but I just can't see us getting in without running the table and getting to the tournament final. Too many (bad) losses led by Texas Southern at home. Vandy is a tough and weird place to play. Anything can happen at Georgia. Ark and UK at home are tough duty.
White’s biggest problem is he’s following Donovan. Speaking of Donovan, if he comes back to college ball, I wonder where he goes? Wherever he goes, we’re going to be upset.
Agree, 3-1 and it doesn’t matter if we lose the first game in the SEC tourney. 2-2 and I think they probably have to get a quality win in the tourney, which may mean needing 2 wins. Winning at home against Arkansas and you start seeing a clear path to a bid.
I could be wrong, but I doubt very seriously that Billy ever returns to college ball. The reasons he left (the recruiting environment) are still pertinent and if anything, far worse. Besides, he's been pretty successful (albeit not titles) in the league.
There is definitely a chance to go to the tourney (duh!), but this team seems way too inconsistent to assure their winning the games they need to win. aTm was one of those.
Not to crush your hopes for your organs Vee, but as bad as the rough seasons are on the liver, the championship seasons were much worse. Every time we advanced past the sweet 16, I pulled out my liver and beat it on the floor for a few hours in celebration.
I think 3-1 gets it done but 2-2 could do it in the unlikely scenario that the two wins are against Arkansas and Kentucky. Might be enough if 2-2 includes just one win against them plus one win against either Georgia or Vandy. But 2-2 with wins against only Georgia and Vandy likely isn't enough.
If we do what you suggest we would finish like 24-10 and be like a 6 seed lol. No way we have to do all of that to just get in.
