He has been absolutely cursed with injuries. People can't disagree with that.

Kind of like the injury bug that happened while Muschamp was coaching here. Coaching style could have an impact on injuries. Playing smaller players against larger players, having a short bench with little front court depth, etc.

It would seem to be more than just “bad luck”. Could be a curse?

At a minimum keynote, egbunu and now jitohba's injuries have no relation to playing style. Probably others but those are 3 "anomalous" injuries we have been unfortunate to have experienced. Anomalous types of injuries but I used quotes as a bit of sarcasm because they all happened to our program...

After Egbunu got injured in the second half of the season, the starting lineup was Hayes, Leon, Devin Robinson, Hill and Allen, with Chiozza, Canyon Barry, Stone, Hester, Gak and Rimmer coming off the bench. The team made it to the Elite Eight because Barry and Chiozza made surreal plays to get us there. It then lost a game to South Carolina that it should have easily won. Barry and Chiozza played 43 mpg between the 2 of them. Hill played 29 mpg. Half of Chiozza’s playing time was at the 2. I found the way the rotations were handled to be strange, to be polite.

Keyonte’s injury was a freak thing. The injury to Jitobah was a hard foul. It seems like our players get manhandled a lot and White works the officials very little. Playing long minutes while undersized also wears on a player’s body.

It was hard to tell when someone was injured or just not playing. Gak played a full season at Cal Baptist without any injury issues and appears to have been injury-free in his pro career. Johnson and Bassett both suffered injuries, but both guys bulked up in college and played out of position, IMO. It’s strange to see a small forward and a power forward in high school go to a power conference school in college and play the power forward and center positions, respectively. That’s just looking for trouble.

I agree White doesn't work the refs enough but Johnson's was a freak thing and losing a guy to an eye injury and another to a knee surgery that wouldn't take has nothing to do with White. Respectfully disagree still.

Do you gig Mark Few for needing Suggs to hit the game winner to get to the Championship game? Why stop there? Let's delegitimize all wins in all sports that take outstanding plays to get the victory. Doesn't count anymore. Let's also scrub from the record any success a coach or team has in the playoffs if they lose the next game.

I don't know how you can confidently state that we should have easily beaten South Carolina that year considering we split the regular season series with them with each team defending their home court. We lost a close game to them. I wasn't shocked when it happened.

Wasn't egbunu the one that had the issue with the microfracture surgery?

I believe so. However, he was healthy enough to play well in the G League. He is now playing for a pro team in Israel.

You get my point. You’re just not willing to face up to the fact that we have a mediocre coach.

To clarify, I was referring to Chase Johnson.

I think we have a good coach who can become a great coach.

I am a typical over reactor (to the negative) in the moment. Much more reasonable a day later. I’ve already mentioned my desire to try another coach in other threads….I wish the team was more successful under White. I genuinely like him.

Brent…I am guessing you are aware that former poster Bullis has not once but as of today, now twice has posted on another site that White will be moving on after this season. Like you, hasn’t said he’d be fired just that he won’t be the coach next year. He seemed to have some contacts in the program at one point. Not sure if he still does or just making an observation as you are (though he says it’s a done deal).

You’re certainly entitled to your opinion. Of course, you have stated on more than one occasion that a team can basically coach itself. That is true to some extent with respect to the 14 million rec league teams that we both have played in, but it’s not so true when you deal with college teams.

This post is largely inaccurate, or at least misrepresents reality.

Dontay broke his foot prior to the start of his freshman season. The break was complicated, required surgery and a lengthy recovery. It had nothing to do with “bulking up” or his playing position.

Virtually the same can be said for Johnson. He suffered his first concussion during preseason practice of his freshman year.

I do agree about the odd ambiguity of injury reports. That is a Florida “thing”, and one I have argued against
    well before White arrived.

I assure you, Gak was injured and had season ending shoulder surgery before his transfer.
He also had knee surgery before his junior year.
I’ll give you credit for creativity if you argue either was due to playing out of position or “bulking up”.
    Lmao!!!!!

Yeah. White has some shortcomings but I give him credit where it's due. He hasn't done everything wrong and trying to attribute the freakish injury luck on him is a bit much in my opinion. Its just been a really crappy run of luck for us. Can be said about the football team too when you realize we lost 2 players to heart conditions as well who never had a chance to even get on the field but were high rated recruits.

I still speak with Bullis and I do know of his “info” on the topic.
Whomever his source is…. that person is providing speciation, but apparently couching it as something more definitive.

And that’s not an intended slight to Bullis, who is a total nut… but who I like and respect.

    Kevaughn’s 35 points also helped.

People often talk about Florida’s blown lead, forgetting the Gators trailed by 11 at one point in the game, and faced a 5-point deficit with 1:09 remaining in over time.
