What a great story all around. I had no idea about this. The fact she is a gator is icing on the cake. As to Bowe, how many people would give up a spot for an Olympic event to someone else? Just outstanding. I’m glad another spot opened up for her.
Bowe competes in the 500, 1000, and 1500. Erin competes only in the 500. The 1000 and 1500 are yet to be skated.
Thank you for the information. While Bowe's sacrifice was incredible I did not want people thinking that she did not get to compete.
Brittney skated in the 1500 and came in 10th. The 1000 is on the 17th, her last chance to medal in individuals and considered her best event.
In-line at an early age but speed skating on ice was a little over 4 years ago. Erin, Brittney and Joey Mantia were all in-line world champions before getting into ice speed skating.
We also had another guy from Ocala win a bronze in Pursuit. There must be some good trainers and facilities in Ocala.

I know it may be a dumb question but I'm from Canada, there was an indoor ice rink right beside my High School.
