Meanwhile, if we can move past the "people making stuff up and shouting it over and over", here is something from the CDC MMWR that will trigger them all over again.

Listen. It’s time to move past this. The virus is going to virus. This study means nothing, the data speaks on masks. Can’t you hear the voices? The data speaks.

Booster up if you want but I’m not seeking these new drugs. Get back to me when there a second generation. When we have newer, new drugs.:ninja2::devil::rolleyes:o_O

New CDC Study Shows How Quickly Booster Effectiveness Wanes (townhall.com)

A study released Friday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that the booster shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccine lose substantial effectiveness after about four months but still provide protection against hospitalization.

According to the study, researchers found that boosters were effective against cases of moderate and severe COVID-19 for two months after the dose. The effectiveness dropped by the fourth month after the booster dose. But, the booster shots still provided protection in keeping people out of hospitals during the Delta and Omicron variant surge.

The booster was 91 percent effective in preventing a vaccinated person from COVID-19 hospitalization the first two months after receiving their booster shot. Four months after getting boosted, protection dropped to 78 percent.

I appreciate the humor, it is excellent. However, it is a stark reminder as to why I stopped posting in this thread and Vaccine, Treatment and Cures thread.

Yeah, almost is if Omicron was really effective at evading the human immune system.

More people got reinfected during the Omicron wave in UK than before it emerged, data shows. It means people who've had COVID-19 could get sick again.

I still think that is a good thing, 78% effectiveness is not bad. I was boosted and tested positive with very mild symptoms, a cough, runny nose, and low temp 99.9 one day. If I hadn't self tested I wouldn't have know I had it and just thought I had some allergies.

I wonder how many people would have had the same reaction without the vaccine and boosters, I bet a lot. Most immune systems are strong enough for this.

It’s not bad, but not great since we are talking “hospitalizations” which is like the last stand before they translate into deaths. Shows they might ultimately need an “Omicron specific” vaccine to come back to full effectiveness. Kind of like the flu shot changes every year. Of course that depends on whether Omicron comes back in waves, or other variants emerge.

The last two “waves” were each driven by a different variant with different characteristics. So who knows what the next one will be. If there even will be one at all. It’s a tough deal as obviously there is a lead time to manufacture vaccines. This is why flu vaccine is 50% effective, they basically need to guess what that years strain is going to be months in advance. But that is flu and is a long established challenge to deal with. Nobody knows what’s going to happen with COVID.

MMWR’s are nothing more than an advertisement. Not a real study. Let’s deal with real studies

I've read one of them, I think Pfizer, is testing an Omicron variant version although they expect it won't be needed by the time studies are done. I've seen other articles referencing vaccines in development that have a broader effectiveness than current MRNA ones. But I suspect we will be in the "endemic" phase by the time we see that available.

It looks like the 7day avg for deaths is cresting and may be on the way down. I know that case counts are not accurate, but this may have been true throughout the pandemic and the good news is that cases are now 4x lower than the peak from just one month ago.
