I don't know but since it's on the road that gives them a boost.

Aggies at their place will be tough, but they have lost 8 straight home and away, NCAA chances gone. Gators need to get an early lead and let em think " here we go again"

Realistically, I think we should be looking at the "At Large Bid" - I just don't see this team winning the SEC tournament to get the automatic.

Hate to be negative, but a game against the Gators seems to be just what the doctor ordered for the majority of struggling teams.

For the first time in 33 years I'm losing interest in our basketball team. That game yesterday showed how far we are from an elite program, and we don't seem to be heading in the right direction overall. I wonder if Stricklin feels the same way or if basketball isn't that important to him, but I feel more excited by the women's team and I didn't know if I'd ever say that. Still, I'll support the team but wow this middle of the pack mediocrity feels too much like my Minnesota Vikings

Well that wouldn't follow the pattern of our last few games. This team likes to get down big then come out swinging. lol

Yeah Tuesday against A&M is a must-win. I'd like to think they can pull off the upset against Arkansas and Auburn, but........

Florida has the defense to stay in most games, even against top teams, but they don’t seem to have the offense to prevail on a regular basis.

    Current Record: 16-9 (6-6)

Key wins: vs Florida State 13-11(yikes), vs Ohio State 15-6 (neutral site) vs Miss. State 14-10

Bad losses: vs Texas Southern 11-10(on a 6-game win streak) vs Maryland 11-14 (neutral site) at Ole Miss (12-13)

Must-win games left: at Georgia, at Vanderbilt, at Texas A&M

Key games left: vs Kentucky, vs Auburn, vs Arkansas
    ---------------------------------------------------

Things are getting really tight for our tournament chances. Not only must they go 3-0 against UGA, Vandy, and A&M, but might need to beat one of the key game opponents as well to avoid having to sweat things out during conference tournament week.

This Texas A&M game feels like the NCAA tournament decider. Lose and you pretty much are out barring some amazing run. Win and you are still on track with a huge home game against Auburn on Saturday that you can have lots of hope going into.

9 wins in the conference is the minimum. If the last 3 come against A&M, Vandy, and UGA we probably still need 1 or 2 in the conference tournament. I could see Vandy being an L and we actually need an upset at home to get to .500

I guess it also all depends on how other teams finish the season, and bid stealers in the conference tournaments.

Palm has the first update after this weekend's games. Barely hanging on.

I’ve felt this way for the last 3-4 years of White’s tenure. My first concern was his ability to recruit, which he eventually improved on by getting some highly rated players like Scottie Lewis and Tre Mann. But he still hasn’t succeeded in getting a good balance of players, always seeming to be heavy with guards and not enough solid big guys. His ability to coach has always been a concern, as he tends to choke in big games and lose leads by slowing down the tempo and trying to run the time out, just like in the elite eight game and the game against Duke. Thought he may learn from those losses and become a better coach but he has stubbornly stayed with his same style of conservative play. This will be his undoing as this has not been a style of play that has been successful in competing with Kentucky for top of the SEC as we did most seasons with Donovan as our coach. Florida has become a middle of the pack SEC bubble team that usually makes the dance but has a quick first weekend exit. There are some that are happy as clams with this but many like myself are not. I’m not unrealistic and expect a final four each season but would like to see a team that is enjoyable to watch and that occasionally has a shot to win the SEC regular season or SEC tournament. Is that too much to ask? I don’t think so but I’m sure there are some here that will disagree. There will never be another Donovan but there aren’t a shortage of coaches that could improve over what we currently have. Time to move on and give another coach a shot, we have seen what this one can do, and in my opinion, isn’t enough.

In a recent thread someone mentioned that we seem to have poor games after winning. Here's our Net ranking over time. Every trend up is followed by a trend down. Why can't we maintain? Is this coaching? Focus? Motivation? Are we due for a trend up?

That actually looks like we are pretty consistent and the NET has us pretty accurately pegged.

Its also about trajectory. There is a big difference between a low seed but a program trending in the right direction vs what we have here

Im speaking on a macro scale. Sure watch the game, have a few beers, etc.

Im talking about the state of the program. Nobody considers a team that gets into the macaroni bowl every year as a good program. We shouldn’t consider a team sneaking into the tournament as a good program either

The team being mediocre for 7 years is the problem, not the posters upset about constant mediocrity.

I watch more than I should, but the idea that you have to force yourself to watch crap to know that it’s crap is quite absurd.

We know how Mike White teams will be. Mediocre offense, some bad losses, no major elite win but some solid wins, end up middle of the pack in the SEC. Sneak into the tournament as an afterthought. Rinse and repeat
