My 2-cents: For all the criticism directed at Coach White (including myself here), he could have lost the team but didn't. He rallied them. If he's criticized for certain things, he should be commended for others. Twice we have played poorly enough to lose a game in the first half but he rallied the kids at halftime and they came out playing lights-out defense, limited TOs and won.

This group of kids has the potential to put it all together and finish strong . . . and that's what I'm still hoping for.

I don't get how we are equal to ole miss yet we r winning a game in the NCAA tourney. Ole miss has absolutely no chance of even making the NCAAs unless they win the conference. tourney. .

Can you explain how we are a potential tourney team and yet we have a BAD loss there and a could-have lost game at home? And I said that at best we are winning one game. One and done is a distinct possibility.

 

Does JWill still have eligibility?

 

Is one and done in the NCAA's better than a deep run in the NITs?

I think so.

The Texas Southern game was painful. I was there in person. I don't think I have ever been more confused and upset after a game.

We were not ready to play and fault goes to the whole team from the coaching staff to the players and even us posters.

I am sure that at least some of the players read what we post.

No, but I do. I’m waiting to get the call from Coach White any day now. Why do you think I’m defending him all the time? Trying to get my spot secured.

 

I attended an NAIA Division III team as an undergrad and I was asked many times to play by the head coach. Most of the students were engineering or architecture so not many kids wanted to do it as they had a lot of time commitment to their studies. We liked to play, but without a scholarship we had to work and it was more hours than practice. We did show up at games to cheer on our classmates.

I recall one time I was playing one-on-one with a guy warming up that wanted to be on the team and was going to show his stuff and I was killing him. And one-on-one was not my game as I was a deep shooter.

I really felt for the kid.

Now they are NCAA Division III.

 

Why all the hate of Dan Werner?

When Noah was a freshman he often had to tell Joakim what to do on D.

Then Joakim knew what to do when he was a soph.

 

No, we won't. They are going to destroy us on the boards, and have a better player at literally every position.

 

Well, it is called "Gator-itis". Okay, maybe "Basketball Gator-itis".

Dan's biggest problem was...he was all we had at the 4 position and he played a lot of minutes. He gave it his all (he was NOT a slacker) but we wanted Al Horford. BTW, David Lee was the 4 before the '04s arrived and probably taught Noah his position.

 

Werner came after the 04s, which might have been part of the problem. None of the guys who immediately followed, including Speights who had a decent NBA career, were going to make anyone forget the hoops champs

 

I sometimes wonder if Bynum would have made a difference.

 

Probably for the best he never came to Florida. He got a ring or 2 with Kobe but what a headcase.
