I don’t know but wasn’t UCLA in the championship game last season and last I looked, Arizona is ranked #4 in the country. I’d be pretty happy to return to that level of glory. Just saying.

I’ve been clear on what I think the expectation should be. Sweet 16 type talent most years and an occasional deeper run. I don’t need Billy D level success, just top 15-20 type success, which is a reasonable expectation for this program.
As far as this winning streak, I’m happy they have won these games and hope they make the tournament. But we almost blew a 16 point home lead to a 1-9 conference team in a game we had to have. That’s after blowing a 9 point lead late in regulation at home to a mediocre Ole Miss Team, and getting down 16 at home to a mediocre OSU team.
So even the wins aren’t fun to watch much of the time. MW takes the air out of the ball crazy early and never learns (did it again last night), our subbing is weird, our in game adjustments lacking, our offense, while a bit better still is just not fun to watch much of the time, and we are a perennial bubble team.

Thank you Tampa, I know you love our Gators and want them to be the best they can be. I really enjoy your posts and especially when you bring some of the players you watch at the HS level to our attention.

FYI I agree with your posting far more than I disagree with it. I have great respect for your insights.

I'm on the fence, I'm kinda in that "Mike White" is a great guy in every respect and a decent coach but not a great one.

It's frustrating - beat a good Virginia Tech team then lose to Oral Roberts. Makes we want to chew nails.

At this point in the season I am invested in the kids and just prefer to root them on, come hell or high water.

I do believe Mike is kinda at the point that he either puts a great team on the court that will preserve his job OR put out a "bust"
that sinks it, sadly the trajectory seems to be headed more to the latter than the former.

Regarding the talent, no argument, KJ, Trey, Andrew and others, we should have been better.

    Appreciate you bro...........

Great stuff as usual Bling. Only counter argument I have is that SEC teams are not so unevenly matched that the lower tier guys can't possibly win.

UGA took Auburn to the limit just the other night.

I certainly believe that our Gators must be totally prepared to go, and that's on coach, because if they are not, well, we know it can get ugly.

But I see some improvement, CC is back, Reeves is stepping up and Jones is getting his shooting touch back.

Obviously this team needs every edge it can get.

Well the SEC chain-saw awaits UF, we have some really tough outs if they want to dance. lets see if CMW and the team is ready for the challenge.

I respect how hard this team plays and never quits. Their efforts make you proud to be a Gator. And I am excited that we have won 4 in a row. But we have beaten some fairly mediocre teams. We had to fight which they did to overcome being behind to Okla. St., Miss. and Mizzou. None of them are any way close to being the best teams in the SEC. (referring of course to Miss. and Mo.). And with 1:47 left we were only 3 pts. ahead of lowly Ga. But now we have people talking about beating Ky, Auburn and Arkansas. I just don't think we have the horses to finish the race to the NCAA's. Please, I hope this team makes me out to be so wrong. We have a better than average coach but not a great one and our team is better than average but not great. At least we are in control of our own destiny.

The big games are Texas A&M away, Arkansas at home and Vanderbilt away. These are all coin flip games. Win two of three and we are solidly in. Otherwise it will take a miracle like beating UK or Auburn.

Agree. I love March Madness. The drama, intense, and passion of fans during this time is unmatched IMHO. I love it more than the NBA finals.

No one knows we are not in the loop. Did not see where they said every transfer was a bad fit.
Glover I think did not think he would start does not make h a bad culture fit. Nembhard wanted to play different style again does not mean he's a bad culture fit.
Just going to enjoy rest of season and see what happens.

Thanks. I think to @murphree_hall's question, wingtee may have said it a time or two. I don't think it's been a pervasive suggestion. Like murph wrote, we all want the Gators basketball team to be great. They're not that this year, but at least at the moment they've scrapped their way back to a + SEC record. Still a bunch of games. Who knows? Maybe they can make a little run.

Joe Lunadi has put Florida in the First Four out citing the lackluster win over the worst team in the SEC at home as the reason for dropping them.

Can't say I disagree with that reasoning when other bubble teams are also winning. Starting to feel like Florida is going to need another Quad 1 victory to get in. At A&M might be their best shot or maybe Arkansas can get in the top 30 (current Net is 31). To get to at minimum 9-9 in the SEC, Florida will need one of those games anyway. Going to be a bumpy ride for sure, but hope Florida can get in.

In the original post I believe I referred to hick and Fran being the ones who put this sentiment out there most. Not sure where the confusion is coming from. Maybe I’m mistaken and I started it like that on twitter, if so my bad. No this has 0 to do w/ fans really. There’s no energy in the program and that write up from the athletic was more than fair. I can’t tell u 1 thing about any of mikes teams save the fact that they’re inconsistent. I don’t need him to be billy , but I do need him to be better

They do an “ all things gator pod” once a week I listen to. I love their energy but I feel like basketball gets slack cut to it that football doesn’t. When u run down the list of accomplishments the last 30 years basketball isn’t really less accomplished. Just think you need to hold folks to a standard if u want better but maybe I’m wrong and I’m the only one that thinks this isn’t good enough but I doubt it

Thanks! As for 1 thing - I can think of at least two - and I know we would all like to see more, but two things CMW's teams do pretty consistently well: 1) Inbounds plays and these have made a return of late, esp. the screen action for the cutting shooter who drains a three 2) Play pretty good defense w/o fouling. Our players very rarely get in foul trouble during the second half. Sometimes I think they should foul more.
