That reference to unloading bad cultural fits is an eye opener. Our culture must suck because a lot of high quality kids left the program.
"When was the last time you saw Florida as a Final Four contender?" This year if you were Andy Katz. We were doing great until we played a Porter Moser coached Oklahoma team. He dismantled a defense that looked great by seeing exactly how to defeat it and having the coaching skills and the players to execute it. After that we had to revamp our defense and sucked for a while. During and after that game we were getting killed with back door cuts. Don't see many of them now.
Thank you 33 - Agree with all in large measure. I did not realize that CMW was disgruntled / considering leaving?? That was a bit of a surprise. Where the heck would he get a better job? Or perhaps a "pressure thing"? The comments section reflect our board pretty much IMO. I suspect coaches future with the Gators will play out next year. As in a step up in success and continued employment or more of the same and perhaps an agreement on both sides a change is needed. Be that as it may, I'm rooting my ass off for the Gators for the rest of the year.
Yes Tampa - caught me a bit off guard. I suspected there were issues with Lewis, a good kid that came in super highly ranked, perhaps to highly. I'm not so sure about the culture sucked - KJ's misfortune seemed to be handled with class and compassion by coach, but then again, I ain't in the locker room. I know one thing, even someone as oblivious as I can see a serious demeanor change in coach this year. Pressure mounting or that and locker room issues? I know the Niels Lane situation is a serious thread on the board, I just decided to stay generally quiet on that topic in that I had nothing to add.
Thanks @33hoop! Well worth taking the time to read. Like most have said, uncomfortable but true. I know some of those comments came from members of NBN. LOL!
The coach, above everyone else, knows the strengths and weaknesses of the program. White grew up with a AD father. He knows what the fan base/administration/boosters expect. I think disgruntled may be a little over the top. It may be more a case of knowing that the success desired cannot be delivered. In that case, you have your agent/representatives looking for as close of a lateral move as possible. You try to leave before you are forced to leave. So that may be what's going on here. We went through this before with Kruger. When he realized that he couldn't get local boy Vince Carter, he gave up on Florida while his stock was still good. He got out before he would have been fired and salvaged his career by going to Illinois.
