Anthony Grant (coach): Dayton had a spectacular season under Grant in 2019-2020 and would have been the #1 seed in the NCAA tourney. The team slipped back the following season going 14-10. Grant has rebuilt the team this year with 8 freshmen and a sophomore getting most of the playing time. The team started out 1-3 with losses to Massachusetts-Lowell, Lipscomb and Austin Peay. But the experience given to these young guys has paid off. Since then, the team has gone 14-4, which includes wins over Miami (FL), Kansas, Belmont, Virginia Tech, St. Bonaventure and last night's 82-52 thrashing of VCU on the road. The team is now in 2nd place in the A-10 and could be a dangerous NCAA tournament team if it makes it in. Fantastic coaching job by Grant this season and look out for Dayton next season. Trey Mann: Tremendous game for Trey last night with 29 points for Oklahoma City. I would like to see him as a 2-guard going forward. He potentially is a scoring machine, and he is not likely to beat out SGA for playing time at the point. Scottie Lewis: Scottie keeps plodding along in the G League with just a taste of the NBA so far. He averages around 10 ppg and is a premier defensive player. He is not NBA ready, but he is getting there. Gorjok Gak: GG is playing pro ball in the Czech Republic. He recently had a 23 point, 9 rebound, 4 assist game in 24 minutes of play. He is a very good player. It will be interesting to see how his career develops. Samson Ruzhnetsev: He is playing for a pro team named Mega Mozzart. That is the team that last year's NBA MVP, Nilola Jokic, played for before he joined the NBA. Samson recently had a 20 point, 7 rebound game in 25 minutes of playing time. Michael Okauru: Okauru is in his 3rd year at UNC Wilmington and has been the starting point guard there for all 3 years. Wilmington is red hot with a 15-5 record and 9-0 in the VAA. It has won its last 12 games in a row. Okauru had 19 points and 16 points, respectively, last week against Hofstra and Drexel. Dontay Bassett: Dontay is the starting Center for Weber State. Weber is 17-5 for the year and 10-1 in the Big Sky conference. Weber is on a 7-game winning streak. Dontay has scored 18, 10, 17 and 13 points respectively, in his last 4 games, which includes, 8-15 from the 3-point line. Omar Payne: Omar is the back-up center to Kofi Cockburn at Illinois. Illinois is 16-5, including 9-2 and 1st place in the Big Ten. Omar has had 15 points and 6 blocks in 41 minutes of play in his last 4 games. He is becoming a pretty valuable back-up center. Ques Glover: Ques is the starting PG for Samford. Samford is 14-8 for the season and 4-6 in the Southern Conference. It has won its last 3 conference games. Last season, Samford was 6-13 for the season and 2-9 in the conference. Samford beat 18-4 Chattanooga last night behind Ques's 20 points and also beat 12-7 Mercer a week ago also behind Ques's 20 points. That broke an 18-game losing streak to Mercer. Ques is averaging 18 ppg in 29 minutes of playing time per game and is the driving force behind the team's success. Andrew Nembhard: AN is the point guard on Gonzaga's #2 ranked team. The team is averaging 91 ppg and the pundits are attributing much of that to AN's leadership. Gonzaga is on a 10-game winning streak. In their last 5 games, AN has scored 79 points and had 33 assists against 6 turnovers. He is arguably the best point guard in college basketball.
I said that he was a better point guard. I stand behind that. I also said that scoring wise, Trey was a time bomb waiting to explode.

I don't necessarily agree with this, as my point is that players will typically produce better results from one year to the next. To your point, though (and we could go back-n-forth using different examples either way) . . . Much of a kids improvement will come about in their individual work as the coaches have limited time with the kids. You put in the work i.e. Tre Mann and you reap the benefits. Also if a kid transfers out you would imagine there is a renewed sense of urgency, at the new team, so you would expect them to improve. With that said, Mike White's clock is ticking......quicker every day!
Ouch. FG% of 34.4. He's gotten progressively worse every years since his sophomore year. Our maybe teams are realizing how to defend him better, since his game is limited to shooting 3s.
These stats keep getting repeated, but Payne is better now than he was at UF. This is similar to posters saying that AN’s stats aren’t better than they were at UF, so he must not be better than he was at UF.
