Mike White's luck with big men is so ridiculously bad. Sucks for Jitoboh. He put in the work, dropped the weight, and had been looking like a solid contributor.

    Lurk,

I’ve asked this question to friends 5 times. Refs said something like accidental I believe. This non call was worse than the missed foul call on the three Point attempt. Guys recklessly swinging at guy going for a rebound dunk. Stricklin should be asking questions.

As I mentioned on last post I thought at the time it was a horrible no call and was reviewed I believe.

Just because something is accidental doesn't mean it's not a foul.

Doesn't help poor JJ but at least there would be some kind of acknowledgement of the event...

Just the usual thuggery from a Barnes coached Vol team.

I would make the usual back by January joke, but seeing as there are only a couple days left it doesn't feel appropriate. Hope JJ can make a full recovery from this.

My oldest son had to have surgery 4-5 years ago for a fracture of the "eye socket" (for lack of the anatomical term). It was potentially serious more if not treated surgically pretty quickly. If JJ is facing the same thing, his recovery will include rest and no possibility of any more serious re-injury until healed.

He's a good kid and a great Gator and we wish him a speedy recovery!

Hopefully he will use his recovery time wisely and stick to a healthy diet and maintain a level of fitness without gaining weight.

I was a little hard on JJ not losing more weight to maximize his potential, but watching him this season, he is a much better player than I gave him credit for. He was really starting to come in to his own this season. I'm optimistic about his prospects for next year. He could be a major factor on the inside.

Not only was there no foul called, the hillbilly fans screamed bloody murder when the refs stopped play to tend to JJ. To this terrible new and to the hillbilly fans, I say . . .

It was called "inadvertent". I didn't know that "inadvertently" ending someone's season with a shot to the eye was not a foul. Just when you think you understand this game.

The refs missed the foul call (as they did many others). You cannot call a foul on a review unless it's flagrant. They decided it was not flagrant, which was correct. The mistake was not calling the foul in live action.

It was flagrant as player carelessly swung arm in very reckless manner. If that’s a home game guarantee you there’s a call. Call the foul and then review. The review would have shown it was extremely flagrant

Weird that non-contact face guarding is a T in college but what happened to JJ was a nothing.

Seriously? Did you actually watch the play. The Tennessee player batted the ball away from the basket and on his follow through he hit JJ in the face. Arguably, it was a foul, but that type of contact would rarely be called, and it certainly wasn’t flagrant.
