Did you go to any games. I watched him he got wore out in shoot around. When he went in ran 4 trips up and down he was so wore out when he went to bench. Seeing is believing.
He had 40 lbs then he did not need. He has come so far happy for him. Reeves had no idea where to go on D. Switch outs he was lost early in year. It affected his Offence.
He's so much better now, not sure why you find this hard to believe.

I have not seen Jitoboh play in person at UF. I did see him play for Hamilton Heights. He started and was able to play plenty of minutes per game. I have no reason to believe that he was in worse shape at UF except when he was hampered by an injury, which I believe was before the start of his sophomore year. I have played a lot of basketball including at the college level. If you don’t play much, you can easily get winded when you are in the game. If you play on a regular basis, you become less winded. Basketball shape usually comes from playing basketball in real games. JJ is part of a pattern at Florida. His situation is not unique. Florida is lucky that he did not transfer after last season. As for Reeves, he is no different than many high-end recruits. Almost all of them have their weaknesses that need to be addressed. You address them by playing the kid on a regular basis and help him through his issues. You don’t sit him for 13 games and, all of a sudden, put him in the starting lineup. In my opinion, that is pure stupidity.

This tells me that you really don't know what you are talking about.

Guys that don't play also do a lot of training.

    That is just stupid.

Playing one game makes you more aerobic than doing something else instead?

Please cite me some scientific studies that say that.

Losing CC was a big loss. Last night Jitobah (sp?)was the last .... That said if it wasn't for the injury last night and very poor officiating we might have won.

I am not going to cite you crap. We all got into shape during 3 hours of practices every day. You often could feel the salt coming out of your body. However, if you weren’t accustomed to being on the floor in front of a crowd, your body and brain worked a little differently, and you got winded. With playing time and a spot in the rotation, you feel way more comfortable on the court, and you could play for longer stretches of time without getting exhausted. I get it that you did not run into this type of issue during your pick-up-sticks career, but that’s your problem, not mine.

I also competed and trained for bike racing. I tasted metal in my mouth and only saw red when doing really hard intervals.

    Shut up.

You have no idea what I did.

Go back and look at your nasty post to me, and you will see why I reacted the way I did. I’d rather not get into a pissing match, but I also prefer not to be called stupid or, for that matter, to be told to shut up.

Jack's comment about players needing to be in basketball shape and getting there by playing the actual game more often isn't wrong, it's why guys in the NBA who've been out for a while generally take a while to get back in form once they're cleared to play again. At that point they've been running and working out constantly and have showed the doctors they're 100% healthy, but nothing compares to the actual game because there are all kinds of things happening there - physical contact, breathing intensity, having to react quickly to change directions and sprint all the time on a moment's notice, etc - that you can't replicate off the court.

you're right that college basketball players who aren't playing are in much better health and have much better aerobic capacity than the rest of us, but that still isn't quite the same as being in basketball shape to play D1 hoops.

I agree. For many of us, there is a difference in being in great shape and being in game shape. Maybe not for others, but for many of us, there is a difference and the only way to really get into game shape is to play in games. Not saying this was all of JJ's issues, but it is a valid observation.

Has there been any info on JJ playing tomorrow? I assume CJ Felder will try and go. If not, if Tony Livingston TE football enrolled early, he could hold down the post for us. Maybe even ask students for a quick workout, 6’7” and above to help with the post position. LOL

I don't know what the big deal is. I have been called worst on this board. But it would be nice if we all played nice. Still, I do enjoy reading other people's opinion that are different from mine, even though they are wrong.
