We have a 5 star big coming in as well as a 4 star. Bigs will not be the problem next year. We need a bona fide point guard that can get to the rim and distribute the ball efficiently to Reeves. Right now, we need a swing man, a point guard and another shooting guard because neither Kennedy nor Lane will be on the team next year.
He is the only bright spot on the team other than Castleton, Felder, Duruji, and perhaps Reeves. Everyone else is a coin toss as to what you are going to get. MW needs to start the best and most consistent players on the team narrow down the rotation to 8 players. When Castleton comes back Jitoboh should be 6th man. Fleming and Appleby should round out the entire rotation for MW. Castleton, Felder, Duruji, Reeves, and McKissic (starters Jitoboh until Castleton comes back), and Jitboh, Fleming, and Appleby off of the bench. Screw the press which has been largely ineffective in at least 7 of the games we've played which are about 37% of the games we've played.
Worse than the irrefutable pedestrian statistics as a team, is the mindset of the players. After this loss, I watched them as they congratulated a 2-5 team, and they were unphased. That is good if you are going to come back next game and kick a** against whomever you play. But this team and program have gotten comfortable with losing. They have yellow tags on their jerseys and they mean nothing to these players - no pride.
Appleby in too many games is one of the more careless guards in recent memory. You'd think after the first bad pass that White would pull him. I get your short handed, but they were momentum killers. Think it happened twice in a row in the 2nd half. The fact White didn't realize that Appleby was the only pg and bring in another pg is telling. What a great offensive game plan vs Miss of try and get it to Jitobah or Chuck and Pray. I guess White is safe as of right now regardless if they get into the tournament, so unfortunately looks like there will be more excruciating offense we'll have to endure for at least another year and a half. Another absolutely embarrassing performance against a below average team in a game the Gators needed. Tenn is about to beat the Gators by 20+, maybe even worse. Better win vs Oklahoma St and then win the next 3 including at Missouri if they're getting in the tournament. Can't count on any Gators wins at this point. Shoot well or lose.

BINGO! it's always the player's fault with MidMajor Mike, so every year a few diehard Gator Basketball fans get tricked into the cycle. step back and look at the pattern, or even just step back and consider that it is the coach who creates the team and the environment a player would want to willingly enter in order to spend the most important part of their lives and prepare for the job interview of a lifetime. it feels like Groundhog Day on this message board every year right around Groundhog's day. don't fall into the trap of minimizing past results and patterns, the only constant is MidMajor Mike eventually blaming his players every year. it's always their fault, rinse and repeat.
I agree with this to a degree. Just look at @Bazza's SEC scores thread and you'll see a lot of teams laying eggs on the road in conference. I think the last 2 wins without CC were great and unexpected. Last night was bound to happen. Timing of the reschedule couldn't have been worse though with the quick turnaround tomorrow night. The one complaint about last night was not trying to get more shots inside the arc. We were obviously off from outside...and shooting very well from shorter range. Gotta work to get better shots.
No use getting frustrated over what is and what will be, till CMW is replaced. Not saying that the replacement will do any better. But to expect a UF team to be anything other than inconsistent and a team without a real quality Offensive identity is useless as long as he is Coach. 7 years in he is what he is and will produce what has been produced. Appleby is so frustrating to watch as a PG. Turnovers and dribbling into traffic....then when he dribbles deep teams have caught on to his throw out to the top of the key - gets intercepted and dunked every time it seems.

It's been an off ( how many years MW has been our coach). Watching our offense is like watching Shad Khan hire a head coach for the Jaguars. A lot of misses.
When you live by the three, you die by the three. I wonder how many points we would have scored if we chose to go for two points 29 more times? Mike White is the Ron Zook of Florida basketball. Some of his losses are mind boggling. It’s difficult to support him at this point.
But that goes right back to coaching. It isn’t like we have an inexperienced team, these guys have quite a bit of games under their belt. When the shots aren’t falling that is when the defense has to be tougher. Gators let a midget drive to the basket and score repeatedly. The cherry on top of it all was the out of bounds play with 1 second on the clock and we give up a dunk. That was another highlight to add to the list of why we need a better coach.
