The 50% was early on first few months, not now.

    I meant under 30.

not as much now, but early on two shots gave much stronger defense against infection. For a young adult just being able the hassle of having Covid and quarantining etc would have been worth the really really small risk of myocarditis.

Booster up my friend. I heard today from someone who is getting over Covid how the fact they were vaccinated is why it was not so bad. End of the day...we don't know that to be true. But they are doing much better like most (vaccinated or unvaccinated). Did not ask if they got the therapeutic treatments or not. But would not be surprised. Good news is they like most recover from this terrible disease. We have to start treating this like the flu or other viruses. That is where we are at. And if you want the alpha variant drug...go for it.

There is more to life than the nRNA vaccine!!!:D:):confused:o_O:eek::ninja3:

Per the "Tampa Bay Times" 2 hours ago: "The state recorded 605 deaths in the past week, the highest weekly death toll since the end of the delta wave in November. Nearly 1,300 COVID-19 deaths have been confirmed in the past three weeks. There may be many more to come."

Regardless of your continued head up your DeSantis, if you are not vaccinated, you are much more likely to become hospitalized or fall into the above statistic.

    From the CDC data:
Weekly Covid Cases & Deaths by Vaccination Status (from CDC Data).JPG
X=Unvaccinated risk (i.e. times more likely) of getting Covid compared to vaccinated
Diff: Absolute difference in Covid cases & deaths for unvaccinated vs vaccinated per 100k pop.
% Change: Percentage decrease in Covid cases & deaths with vaccination & booster compared to unvaccinated

For the week of Dec 25th, being vaccinated reduced the risk of infection by over 56% for fully vaccinated and 74% for boosted.

For the week of Dec 4th, being vaccinated reduced your risk of death by nearly 93% and being boosted by nearly 99%

*CDC hasn't posted death data through the end of December yet like they did with cases.

I'm shocked that you avoided specific data from earlier today and now are back here with generic nonsense. And here I thought you were open-minded. Guess not.

Booster up is the good choice. Data is that unvaccinated are 49 times more likely to be hospitalized that those who are boosted in my age group. It drops to 17 times for unvaccinated versus vaccinated but not boosted. And, data from other age groups are exponentially in favor of boosting. And similar data upthread in the risk of infection. And, maybe some of the data reflects that the boosted get asymptomatic infection, which also is evidence that the vaccine works at preventing illness because the immune system deals with it. The statement that the vaccines were designed for the original spoke protein is another example of your deceit. The change in the spike protein did not affect the bodies ability to recognize the protein. It still does. The protein is the same, but it’s structure is different, enabling it to more rapidly attach to cells so infesting is quicker. Which is why the body takes a bit more time to defeat the infection. But, does. And it explains the statistics on severe disease. Here is more data for you to ignore. From the CDC yesterday.

The data doesn’t match the propaganda. So he will just ignore the data. The Q fits. Another poster who is rapidly devolving to someone who is not worth responding to because he is in an alternative reality that filters out facts of the facts are contrary to their message. That is how propaganda works, if you are old enough to remember Soviet style propaganda.

I know more vaccinated than unvaccinated but my good friend and 2 of his coworkers are all unvaccinated dealing with Omicron right now. All mild sore throat and cough.
My uncle who is boosted, same exact symptoms...

None of them had a prior infection.

over 99% of us will have a mild illness from Omicron no matter the vaccine status. Sure elderly SHOULD get the vaccine but those for mandates or passports have very little data to back those policies up. Booster drops to below 50% by week 10 in preventing infection or spread.

With the increased number of at home tests, how many positive cases are not getting reported? I haven't reported my positive results to anyone. Who do you report it to?

You can try to your county public health department. I imagine that like the flu, the cdc will at some point estimate symptomatic illness for covid as they will with hospitalizations and deaths, along w/95% CI. It's basically an impossibility to capture total # of infections that occur since there is no mechanism that can compel reporting when infection doesn't include a trip to the doc or hospital (or even testing).

When I got the vaccine I signed up for the CDC follow up app. I get a text message about every 2 weeks. I just got one last night and replied that I was positive, so I guess I have reported to someone now that I think about it. I will call the health department on Monday as well. Thanks

I truly don't understand how anyone with a bit of common sense would even bother getting a booster at this point, the booster has been proven to be an absolute joke. I wonder how many will admit they were wrong trying to force the vaccine on others since it really isn't working as it was sold as

He os right about vaccinating the world. We could immunize everyone here, but we need vaccines to immunize the world to stop this. Or the virus will just keep mutating.

Based on the data posted here today, this statement is another blatant falsehood. You do know they the fact that you ignore the data doesn’t make it false and doesn’t make your falsehoods true? address the data on the links above please. Really, the problem is with your comprehension. As you say about yourself, “I truly don’t understand.” Maybe reread the posts today and the explanations and you will understand it.

I was editing my post when you replied. Maybe go back and take my suggestion there. But is get it. You don’t understand the data. Better have someone explain it to you.

I have plenty of common sense, TYVM, & I do it because it's necessary in my case. Rules notwithstanding, in my case, with my issues, even if it doesn't help with this variant it's not like the other variants are dead.

YMMV & do as you like.
