The last 10 minutes of second half...some bad basketball being played. Loved seeing JJ get all those minutes but the last couple, his gas tank was hilariously empty. Seems like Gatkek actually held his ground physically, admittedly not against a murderer's row. Patric Young getting better and better. Might be a star in the making. Charismatic and fluid with actual information.
Well, Appleby ended up as our leading scorer. Also led in FG and 3PT. 2nd only to JJ in defensive rebounds. 3 assists and 4 steals against only 1 turnover. Kids a baller and I hope he continues balling every game! GO Gators!
The defense is pretty good. I don't think great but very effective. My guess is we are a little bit short to be great. A taller, stronger team is not going wilt quite as much. Pippen had a DAMN BAD game. A W is always a good thing. I am afraid the next time we shoot this bad against a quality SEC team we are going to get a L. Appleby to me was the MVG. JJ has definitely been effective. He could have had a double-double. Gatkek seems to have a real role on this team. Reeves and Fleming are our x-factors. If they hit their shots this team will be a tough out.
Yeah, we weren't particularly good today, just a good bit better than Vandy. Still, this team can compete at a very high level on a good shooting day.
Good job defensively, however the offense was just plain bad. That type of offensive performance would get them beat by most half-decent teams. 9/36 from 3 25% 46% from the FT line 38% from the field That's just not good enough to win against half-decent teams. Hopefully they can turn it around soon because we still have Oklahoma State (who beat Baylor on the road), Kentucky (2x), Tennessee, Texas A&M, Auburn, and Arkansas not to mention a tricky road trip to Missouri.
