Great win - huge win - and hopefully builds on momentum. This team seems like it's all about making or missing shots. Our shooting had been horrid, but we also played a tough schedule to start the SEC. I love that Kowacie is starting and gaining confidence. Along with Duruji and Flan we have some firepower in our starting 5, and with Appleby playing like that off the bench we can (hopefully) start putting together a decent 40 minutes of offense. We just need to be consistent. I've also noticed our spacing and ball movement is better now, but it all comes down to making shots...and of course staying aggressive in our lockdown defense.

We're only 5 games into an 18-game schedule. Still lots of ball left to play. If we can continue to build on this momentum and get above .500 we'll be back in the driver's seat.

Do we know if Castleton is officially out for Saturday?

There's only so much that can be wrong with a shoulder and if it's been a nagging issue I don't think the possibilities are very good he comes back soon. Labrum tear or rotator have a bad prognosis for short term recovery. Obviously that depends on severity but given the intensity of use required in basketball I have my concerns.

that's true. if it's a labrum tear that's often eventually surgery, so hopefully something less severe - but yes any shoulder injury in basketball is generally not a good thing. Hope he just needs some time to heal whatever it is

    "Labrum."
    Sounds like a naughty bit.
    Sorry. Maturity-wise, I'm stuck in 10th grade.

Might be the biggest win of the season. It was against a good team at a time we needed a win. I had us finishing 15-16 before this game because I really didn't think we could beat the over .500 teams. Hope this helps us take the next step and finish strong enough to make March Madness.

great win but lets not get our hopes up. If we beat Vandy maybe but if we don't it is back to hoping for the NIT.

No, it won't. But losses with key players out were sometimes counted less by the selection committee at least when they said who was in and setting the S-curve years ago when they relied on the "eye test" and confirmation bias for making their selections.

One thing I have noticed in recent years is that the selection committee is probably now taking Pomeroy and/or Sagarin ratings into account for seeding.

Kenpom has us at 35, Sagarin has us at 34.
That's in the range where you should be in as an at-large, but you don't want to slip.
