The Lady Gators are on a roll and have #11 LSU, #1 South Carolina, and #3 Tennessee all coming to Gainesville in their next 3 games. Time to support the ladies and pack the stands to cheer them on to some upsets.
D1 women’s basketball averages 1625 people per game. And Uf averages under 1600. The SEC as a whole barrels averages 4K, and that’s with UT skewing the numbers. I would be happy with 3 or 4k.
This team has earned support and the AD needs to be on the phone and calling in some favors to put asses in the seats for this scary stretch coming up.
I am changing the subject a bit, but I watched the Gator/Alabama gymnastics meet on television last week, and the O’dome was sold out. It was the most exciting Gator sports event that I have seen in a while. For those of you who didn’t see it, it looked like Alabama was going to pull the upset, but the Gators had 2 perfect 10’s on the final 2 floor exercises to squeak by Alabama. It looked like almost all students in the seats. There is no reason that the arena can’t be packed for women’s hoops, but it looks to me like student interest is a key.
That must be a trick of the camera, the ODome is nearly always a sell out for a good meet and over the 20+ years we have had Season Tickets the bulk of the audience is adults, the student sections do attract more camera time (who can blame the TV folks for that LOL ) The attendance for WBK will improve as the team progresses for now the attendees are motly adults plus the Pep Band love those folks
Have a week to put a promotion together to get those seats packed. I know it'll be tough since the game is at 12 EST.
