That’s pretty disappointing but if you are going to go after good coaches other people will want them to. I wonder who the fall back would be. Maybe someone like Jeremy Pruitt.

I think the agents working behind the scenes is the reason, not The Athletic.

verbal commitment from coaches about as reliable as verbals from players. Always get it in writing. Lol

Pruitt? How in hell hell could he not have a show cause after stuffing bags with cash and McRibs for players? I’m guessing once the ncaa finishes it’s investigation Pruitt will hands down have a show cause for several years. Not worth touching.

It’s definitely possible I was just throwing out a name or someone that could be a DC and had ties to Napier at Bama.

Addae is a guy I would not of minded us going after. Any idea where he is going since there is TRob/UGA smoke and Scott/Bama smoke?

Muschamp is bringing in T-Robb to implode the dawgs. They are a good tackling team and those two don't teach it at all.

So Jay Bateman is rounding out BN’s staff coaching ILB. I hear he’s a good recruiter, but an average coach.

Where did you hear he was an average coach? Sure he was fired as a co-DC but supposedly Mack wouldn't actually let him call the defense the way he wanted. I haven't heard anything negative about him as a position coach.

I’m not saying he’s a bad coach and I have no idea about the reason he was fired by Brown, but Brown is no slouch as a coach. Probably the biggest reason was his defense was getting worse each year.

The guy was a DC for the past 15 years. No idea about his coaching or system, but even at some smaller schools that's pretty impressive.

Not sure where the doubts would come from. The guy has a wealth of experience beyond what he's being asked to do here. No reason to think he can't handle the job.

Fact is none of us none of us keyboard jockeys have the slightest idea how positional coaches perform when they are hired. Multiple DC gigs & Broyles finalist....seems like a good start for your inside LB coach. More laurels that Pete's resume as coach, yet everyone is cool with Peterson (and rightfully so).

"David Lake of Inside the U reported via the USA Today Coaches Salary Database that Candle was paid $1.2 million in 2021. Lake stated that Miami can potentially pay their coordinators as much as $2 million."
