Just thought I would follow their progress after their blowout win over our Gators. Their team is on a 1 game winning streak. After getting blown out at Southern University, TSU rebounded with a very impressive 67-61 win over 3-10 Grambling last night. The Tigers now have the 6th best conference record in the mighty SWAC. Might not be that bad of a loss by our Gators. TSU is now 3-8 on the season and getting better every game (minus the Southern game). That's a team to watch going forward.

This doesn't add up. We were told that, while a bad loss, it didn't matter much because it was only one game and that despite the fact they were 0-7, 4 of those losses were to decent teams and only two were blowouts!

That "bad losses don't count" rhetoric must be false. I don't really know how the tournament committee operates, but when you're the only P5 team with a Quad4 loss, it's got to count against you. Before last night's Bama game, the Gators were deemed a 10seed by one of the comprehensive seed projectors.

Can't be, several posters who all know way more about basketball than you and I ever will said so! Coincidentally nowhere to be seen on the board yesterday though. Hmmm

Huge matchup last night as the Tigers travelled to Alcorn State. Alcorn came into this highly anticipated matchup 4-11. The game proved to be a great SWAC thriller. The Braves ended up taking a 15 point lead, before the mighty Texas Southern Tigers came roaring back. But in the end, the Alcorn State Braves pulled out a 73-72 win.

With the loss, the Tigers dropped to 5-9 overall, and 3-9 on the road. I still think those Tigers are getting better every week and I wouldn't want to play them in March. Or in our case, December either.

I think the message is that the loss, by itself, doesn't matter much. If you have a lot of other losses, especially to bad teams, then the cumulative effect will make it matter. In plain terms, if you are 30-1 and your one loss is to TXSO, you'll still likely be the #1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. You had to know that this is what people meant.

On the other hand, given our recent history, it’s a pretty good bet that we’ll be on or near the bubble. When comparing teams for inclusion in the tourney, the differences in resumes can be razor thin. This is where such a putrid loss could hurt us a great deal

Not trying to be pedantic, but I don't think that "on the other hand" applies here.

Today was an epic battle of Tigers. The Texas Southern Tigers traveled to Jackson State to take on the 3-12 JSU Tigers. Jackson State came into this game red hot winning a season high 1 in a row. JSU was battled tested though playing 2 Big 10 teams down to the wire, only falling 71-47 to Illinois and 70-35 at Indiana. The raucous crowd in the Lee E Williams Athletics and Assembly Center was to much for Texas Southern to overcome as JSU beat mighty Texas Southern 61-58. While the arena holds 8,000, it's likely those 500 Tiger fans in attendance proved to be the difference. With the loss, mighty Texas Southern falls to 5-10 overall and 3-3 in the ever competitive SWAC.

Except no one who is a #1 seed and otherwise 30-0 would EVER lose to a winless Texas Southern in December. That’s like Alabama going 11-1 but losing at home to Alabama State.

I'm just glad to see that the Tx Southern loss was a quality loss.
They'll be a tough out come March!

The Texas Southern loss was a sh*t the bed game.

    I get that.

I just never thought that a team with so many seniors would start to believe their press clipping. That is something that freshman do.
