We haven't won a game on the road all year. We haven't won a game in the conference. We have lost 3 straight games. What is going to change tomorrow? It is time to start looking post Mike White. This team has all but quit on him and is only surviving by the small nucleus on the team that plays with pride- Castleton, Duruji, McKissic, Fleming, Felder, and Jitoboh. Everyone else has bought into the complacency of being a bottom-rung team in the conference in my opinion. In fact, that would be my starting five going forward with Jitoboh first off the bench to spell Castleton who is the hardest working player in the SEC.

We don't play well in Columbia even when we have teams playing with confidence. This is an egg shell squad here save 6 players who go out with reckless abandon every game. the other 7 are student-athletes with an emphasis on students.

Not only that isn't a coach responsible for getting a team mentally ready for the gravity of a contest. That Auburn game could have turned the season around. Now it is spiraling to where you wonder if we are going to win a game in the conference. We are at the very bottom of conference play playing on a National Championship floor. I think going forward we should take that floor up until players come along and a coach comes along to deserve playing on it. Right now neither is the case.

Anthony Grant deserves a shot. Yes he bombed at Alabama, but had some good years at Dayton, and knows the culture and the winning atmosphere at Florida. He would bring in top recruits, and would employ some of the same winning strategies and philosophies that Billy employed with better players that White obviously cannot get.

    wci347 - I feel ya bro. I feel ya.
I don't agree they quit against LSU, I think we saw great effort that fell short for many reasons, all of which reflect poorly on the staff.

Hall nailed it, UF should have won that game.

11-22 Free Throwing is a gag and Puke.

It's pretty obvious CMW is struggling with lineup combinations, apparently there is NO good combination for offense.

Guard play - A complete disaster, I can't recall worse guard play from UF as in...............EVER. Unless CMW can bring a kid off the bench that hasn't played much, that can produce, we are doomed.

Oh for the days of Trey or Nembhard.

We are missing a couple of key cogs and it shows, UF's vulnerability has been exposed and is being exploited in every game.

Martins kids will beat up CC big time. Someone better get hot is all I can say.

You can't put this on the players when the coach is responsible for which players play for the program. He is not an elite game-time coach and he has struggled to bring in elite talent. Can the talent he brings in be developed properly to win? Absolutely! But he has shown a deficiency in that category also which has resulted in a plethora of transfers and the need to resort to the portal more than any other team in the conference. There is a reason why we have more fluctuation of personnel and we are at the bottom of the conference. Is White good at fielding a team from castaways or defectors? Yes. But that does not translate to championship-caliber basketball.

Grant is a coach who I think would be well worth taking a long hard look at if we were to make a change. I know he has been up and down but was recently named coach of the year by both Sporting News and Naismith College. . Plus, at 55, he is still relatively young.

wci347 - Look at recruiting, Reeves IS NOT exactly what I was hoping for, I know he is a Freshman but his contributions have been almost nil.

Yes, it looked like CMW was bringing some talent in but where is it now? Will he develop the new signer's or will they transfer in a year?

Recruiting does not mean much without player development and winning.

How many years have we had that shell shocked look now? Offense has been live or die by the trey with no sustainable sets. Either he can’t recruit talent, the scheme sucks, or their teaching skills are lacking. Where have we heard that before.

I don’t know much about Reeves, but I do know that Rivals ranked him as #30 in the country among seniors, which made him a 5-star player. There are 358 Division 1 teams in the country, so there probably are 1,000 or more freshmen playing college basketball. If you are ranked #30, you ought to be playing, especially on a team with our lack of talent. Reeves has played in only 10 of the 15 Gator games this season. He has played less than 10 minutes in 6 of the other 10 games. LSU is the only game against a high major team in which Reeves has played 10 minutes or more. That is not how you develop a young player. However, it is a pattern of White’s. It’s one of the biggest problems that I have with White as a coach.

I agree with you on this. The days of letting top players ride the pine for a year or two are basically coming to an end. Maybe the top teams can still get away with it to a degree but not so for the lower tier teams. You have to keep these top rated kids in the flow if you want to keep them now that NIL has came to the forefront. They want to get their names out there for the exposure.

This is more than keeping them in he program. Kids are not going to develop sitting on the bench. Get them into the rotation if you want them to become reliably good players. Omar Payne is actually developing at Illinois. He is playing behind arguably the best big man in college basketball in Kofi Cockburn, and, yet, he gets into every single game at the 4-minute mark of the 1st half. If he doesn't get into foul trouble, he comes in again later in the 1st half. If he is playing well, he gets in again in the second half. In Illinois's last game against Nebraska, Payne played 10 minutes, scored 8 points, had 5 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. he is advancing enough that he has a legitimate shot to start at center for Illinois next season. We should be doing the same thing with Reeves, but I doubt that it will happen. He should get into every game a couple of times in the 1st half. If he plays well, repeat it in the 2nd half. If he stinks it out, don't play him in the second half.

Getting them in the game and development should go hand in hand. One thing is for sure and that is without game experience they will only develop so much.

Maybe we can pick the last piece of flesh from ULL and steal their basketball coach and recruits..they probably won’t mind!

You probably are right. They didn't quit. They just get discouraged and wear their discouragement on their faces. Thank God White is starting to use Felder, Jitoboh and Reeves more. If White uses what he has more efficiently, we can win a couple of games in the SEC.

Yesterday's results confirm your suspicions! Can't tell you how impressed I was with them, Jit and Reeves especially.

CC - 8 freaking blocks man!!

So I donned my headphones, caught the highlights and
listened to my personal edit of tools
    "Vicarious"

College basketball and rock and roll make a nice mix I find.

Plus the music helps to lower your blood pressure, which is necessary when the Gators make bone-headed plays.

I’d like to see McKissic, Reeves, Fleming, Duruji, and CC. Then Appleby, Jones, Reeves, Felder and Jitoboh.
