Talking about Ole Miss there is a lot of talk on social media that Kiffin will be the next HC of the Vikings.

Another potential loss for Ole Miss. The running game has been at the top of the SEC since Smith has been there. Seems like a good pickup for Cristobal and another example of a guy coming home. Smith is a SFla guy.

Word is going around that Karl Scott will not be on the staff. Anyone know who the our next target may be?

Yeah it looks like he’s going to Alabama and his replacement will probably be Chris Rumph. Get ready for people to spin him into a great coach and top recruiter.

If Bama hires Scott wouldn't it be to replace Golding? Pretty sure Golding is not a co-DC currently and to make him one would be a demotion or sorts, no?

I can't imagine Scott is going to Bama as just a position coach.

Golding is already making $1.5 million at Bama.

Would you trade Golding for Scott? Golding was the Defensive Coordinator/Inside Linebackers for the Tide in 2018 before being promoted to just DC.

ILB coach is the spot we need to fill. Thought I read that Golding and Toney had worked together before. (UTSA 2016 & 2017)

From what I understand he was burned out on recruiting. If that’s the case I think I would prefer Henderson from the Rams.

Won't presume to know or speculate whose "fault" it is (probably no one's), but the coaching staff recruiting hasn't really panned out how I was fantasizing it would when Napier took the job.

The thing I didn't get about Karl Scott was he is a DB coach, we already got Raymond, and Toney for Safeties. We need an ILB coach.

Rumph has coached OLB and DL.

I know coaches get moved around to different positions all the time, but wouldn't it be better to have someone who is more experienced with the position group they are supposed to coach?

    Not sure who fits though.

I feel like that The Athletic article letting it out of the bag that Napier was targeting Scott and that Scott was interested in coming back to college might have ruined it for us.

If this had happened behind the scenes, I think we would have got him. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Saban shipped his CB coach off to Oklahoma and then now there’s rumors that he might be canning Golding right as we were about to finalize a deal with Scott.

I thought I read that Henderson was supposedly coming as DL coach so that leaves room for Rumph or someone else if not Scott

Hadn't heard those rumors, but Golding would be a good fit at UF. He coached ILB, and previously worked with Patrick Toney at UTSA in 16 and 17.

Alabama fans weren't happy with Golding all season long.

And yet, the defense held up their end of the bargain and was good enough to win a title.

Gators still don't have a DL or ILB coaches, at least officially. By the way former DB coach Jules Montinar has been hired by Temple U.

And you would be correct. I was thinking it would be one or the other for DL, so my mistake.

Henderson and Rumph are not mutually exclusive in this circumstance
