The US isn't faring as well as other countries hit by Omicron. According to this article, for S. Africa, their population is significantly younger than the US and European nations, and COVID effects the elderly worse than others. But for Denmark and the UK, their 2-dose and 3-dose boosted vaccination numbers are significantly higher than the US. The result in Denmark and the US? Less hospitalizations and less deaths with Omicron. Not the case here in the US.

 

One day you will look at the data and realize that we are more than double the obesity of Denmark. Shoot we have one of the worst obesity problems in the First World. But keep boostering if it makes you feel better.

 

As there is no virus save the mind virus, distinctions between unjuiced deaths and juiced deaths are meaningless. That said, the meme I posted hints at how the shady metrics gain traction.

 

While true, how do explain why the UK is faring much better with Omicron despite not trailing too far behind the US in obesity rates, and the UK and Denmark both having, in average older populations? Would be great if we could all get healthy, but it's not that easy. It's why the weight loss industry is expected to make $2.8 billion in FY 2022. And like the vaccine, being healthy is no guarantee COVID won't hit you hard, as there as many anecdotal stories about young, healthy people getting seriously ill as there are breakthrough cases.

I'll keep boostering up because it's my best defense against COVID, and the best odds I have. Just like I keep seat belting up when I get into a car. Won't stop me from getting in an accident, but if I do, significantly increases my odds of being fine if I do.

They have an obesity of approx 28% and we are 42%. About the same percentage for overweight.

But does obesity explain what happened during Denmark's first surge, and January, 2021, before widespread vaccinations? A peak of over 4k cases a day, and a peak over 35 deaths, with a couple of days of over 30 a day. Omicron peak in cases, is over 20k a day! But the death rate? Hasn't even hit 15 yet! Did the Danes suddenly all get healthy in a year so that 5X cases doesn't have a corresponding increase in mortality rate?

It's number like these, and out of S. Africa, that lead some people to think Omicron may be less dangerous. But it may also be that places like Denmark and the UK have significantly higher vaccination numbers, and the vaccine has proven to be very effective at keeping infected people out of the hospital. From the original link, in the UK, 2 doses and 75% effective from keeping a person out of the hospital, and a 3rd booster increases that number to close to 90%.

And weren't you the one pushing monoclonal antibodies a few months ago? What happened? Maybe it's because Omicron has made all but one of the antibody treatments completely useless? Curious how you follow this data, but just wave off all the data on how effective the vaccine is at keeping people out of the hospital.

You've made your point clear. Just saying the same thing over and over again is wasting yours and everyone else's time. If you have some new antivax propoganda to share by all means share it.

 

More on vaccine efficacy and vaccine mandate efficacy. United Airlines before the vaccine mandate was losing 1 employee a week from COVID. Since the mandate, their overall hospitalization rate has dropped to 100X less than than the general public. And although they currently have 3,000 employees out with COVID, not a single one is currently in the hospital.

 

Some people will make up crap just to fit their narrative. Fear up everyone!

 

Ok, so US has twice the obesity of Denmark and 4.5 times the covid death rate of Denmark. So what, besides obesity, accounts for Denmark's much lower death rate?

 

My wife and mother in law tested positive today. They are both fully vaxxed (albeit more than 8 months ago) but not boosted. I worry about my wife because her immune system isn't very good and every single time she gets sick it moves into her lungs. The closest 2 monoclonal antibody treatment centers are 5 hours away. Pretty freaking nuts considering Jax has a million people here.

 

Heads up on antibody sites. Lot has changed. Better find an appointment because don't think they are doing walk ins anymore and if they are its very few. Less than 10 typically. Also you now may need a positive test to get them. Apparently not effective against omicron but they were very effective against Delta. Who's to say who has what though so cant hurt to get them. I'm no longer at a regeneron clinic as I'm starting at a testing location tomorrow in Orlando. Hope your wife is ok.

OK so the risk is fairly remote. But if the risk can be easily avoided with a vaccine, why would you not do it?

 

I'm fine. Got a booster Thanksgiving, and both my kids are vaccinated. And while the rise seems small, there are 73.1 million kids in the US. Small increases in hospitalizations equate to hundreds, if not thousands of kids.

And as @I_boy states, the increase in hospitalizations is mostly avoidable. So why not take the precautions and avoid the hospitalizations?

 

1,4 million new cases? so far today i have seen this on 3 websites, heard it on the radio, and seen it on national news, yet nowhere on any covid recording site are there numbers close to that, 4 days ago worldometer had 870,000, so where are all these phantom cases coming from?
