Think Johnson got bumped up to 4 stars, .90 grade. If that’s true, AND we don’t get citizen, this is a great move.
Johnson is a completely different back than Citizen … or for that matter Etienne. ULL used three backs in their rotation. I’m not sure if we get Citizen, but I don’t think Johnson would dissuade him.
3 backs in one cycle is a lot, especially when we should already have our starters next season on roster. I won’t complain tho, I want them all. Must stockpile talent
I don't really buy that because high 4* and 5* rb recruits at Bama and Georgia sit for a couple of years too or have minimal contributions as freshmen and sophomores when there are 3 highly recruited and seasoned rb in front of them. Pierce, Davis, and Wright weren't garbage backs. They deserved reps even if Bowman and Lingard were very good.
Well they all bring something different to the table and Citizen is certainly not a given to UF. Johnson is curious since he played so much as a freshman…I don’t see him coming to sit on the bench. Personally I think he is coming to replicate Malik Davis’s role… a smaller back with really good hands. We’ll see, Citizen seems to be a natural fit to replace Pierce… neither Bowman or Lingard appear to be pure power runners, and Etienne although larger seems more of elusive style with some power. I would guess one adjunct benefit from the ULL transfers is that they have all been through Hocke’s twelve month training regime, and can help with the adjustment for the rest of the team.
We don’t have a proven back other than a presently injured one. I’m not a stars don’t matter guy but at this point, they actually don’t. Bowman and Lingard are going to have to carry the ball for brownie points. Yardage not hs potential. They’ve had more than enough time to either do it this year or get passed
In addition to Waite I think we have 3 good ones. I wonder if the WR is coming. Possible the portal points elsewhere? I suppose staff has reasons to keep them quiet.
I'm of the opinion that transfers have to be "rated" on a case-by-case basis since there are so many reasons why they may be transferring. Just like a Senior H.S. recruit can have heavy swings to their recruiting profiles from their Jr years, so can transfers.
Si you’re just going to choose to ignore the plethora of evidence showing they were never given a chance due to seniority and just act like they couldn’t crack the rotation of upperclassmen? Especially when bowman was a freshman lol wtf
I’m saying they have limited carries and aren’t proven, nothing more nothing less. From what little bit I’ve seen, I don’t see a top 5 back in the nation. A five star out of hs is predicated to be just that.
I def get what you're saying. What Bowman and ESPECIALLY Lingard did in HS no longer holds weight. It's put up or shut up time this spring for them and yes we're transitioning to a new O with a new OC but cream rises to the top. If they are what we think they are, they'll show it or get passed up
Yes, that is kind of my point. Having one of the most productive Georgia players of all time, one of the most productive backs in Florida history, and a borderline 5 star (before injury in high school) who all have had years to develop in college ahead of them does not diminish the talent they had in high school. Their evaluation is just incomplete because they haven't had the shot to prove themselves yet.
The problem is that the difference between top 5 and top 10 backs can be slight, and you have up to 5 years worth of them in college plus late developers who become fantastic players, so it is hard to stand out among all of them. It doesn't mean that either of them can become great or be a huge bust once they get a chance to prove themselves.
