    1.485% - 1.45% = 0.035% over 2 days = "almost 1% a day"?

Sure. Get her over to your computer so she can read this: 'Buckeye's wife, if the 46 year old lady in California had been vaccinated, she probably would still be alive.'

I won't. Same as if someone I know dies in a car accident while wearing a seatbelt, I'm not going to feel differently that it's a good idea to wear a seatbelt.

We've talked about the lag between cases and deaths extensively throughout this thread.

The current 7 day average for deaths in the US is about 1200 per day. Do you not think that number will go up in the coming days and weeks?

Yes. Exactly. I found out yesterday that Delta spread through the superspreader bris I went to two weeks ago. One of the people who got sick is a doctor’s wife (also a health care worker) and they genome tested her. It was Delta so they gave her the monoclonals and she is better.

no, because this has been shown to be a much milder strain.

Even though it's milder, total deaths will almost certainly rise in the near future. The only question is by how much.

Not sure if this is the case here. Often if a test kit is about to expire it isn't released for use as it theoretically may given erroneous results.

Imagine the headline Fla sends out 1 million expired tests kits that may give inaccurate results

Not as precipitously as it would if all these new cases were Delta. But sure, with more cases comes the risk of more deaths. I just believe the percentages will be much lower based on what we’ve witnessed so far. Most new non hospitalized, and in our case even hospitalized, patients are not exhibiting the rapid and serious respiratory decline that we saw back in August/September with Delta. As I mentioned, we believe our worst cases now are remnants of Delta. We will admit positive cases without respiratory issues if the patient is in a high risk category and has fevers or some other symptoms that might evolve into something more serious.

Up here the districts handed out tests that they'd apparently received earlier. The expiration dates vary but all expire within the next 30-60 days. On top of that they're saying if you use one & suspect Covid to go get an official test at an "authorized testing location" to be able to go back to school.

Geez lines about a mile or more for testing up here. My son has 5 or 6 classmates (2 of whom were at a sleepover with him) & a teacher all with Covid currently. Only 1 classmate is unvaccinated.

Buffalo public schools are moving to ban cloth masks & only allow KN95s. Problem they're going to have is I bet they haven't gotten the pediatric size ones and they're not cheap, & Buffalo students are basically the poorest in the area.

What about when your whole family encounters something that they never do at this time of year?
