DeSantis admits to finding 1 million expired COVID-19 tests stockpiled in warehouse

In a press conference Thursday morning, Governor DeSantis admitted state officials found 1 million unused COVID-19 tests in a warehouse. The admission came as DeSantis unveiled a plan to get 1 million COVID-19 tests to Florida’s seniors.

Today’s revelation follows allegations by Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried that the governor was stockpiling tests which were soon expiring. On Wednesday, the Governor’s office called that allegation “bizarre.”

Yeah that's not how it works. Most of the deaths reported yesterday were for people who got sick with covid weeks ago. So the denominator isn't 700,000 (number of cases reported yesterday), It's more like 150,000 (average cases from a few weeks ago). 1800 deaths out of 150,000 would be a death rate of about 1.2%.

still very good, imo.by the way, are you now "up to date "on your shots instead of fully vaccinated? " up to date " to me implies more shots to come, am i wrong?

i looked at december 16th, 160,000 cases, 1416 deaths recorded, a .9% rate, so it is lowere than you quoted.

Yeah I'm up to date. Are you just afraid of needles? Because getting a shot once or twice a year doesn't bother me if it's shown that the shot is effective. And so far, covid vaccinations have been very effective.

no, you are not willing to admit the death rate is dropping by almost 1% a day. 2 days ago i calculated it at 1.485%, now it is 1.45%

my brother-in-law was 3x vaxxed, he died from covid so spare me the self-righetous bs that if she was vaxxed she would be alive.

The death rate is dropping because cases are rising and deaths lag cases. I'm not saying that the overall death rate for omicron won't be lower than it was for delta, but your numbers are meaningless at the moment. You can't take the number of deaths reported yesterday and the number of cases reported yesterday and get an accurate rate, since deaths lag cases and cases are going up so fast right now.

Statistically speaking, she had a much better chance of living had she been vaxxed. People under 50, with at least 2 doses of vaccine, have extremely low death rates with COVID. Not zero, but again, the stats say under 50, fully vaxxed, almost no deaths. Above 50, the death rates of vaccinated go up, but are nowhere near as high as the death rate of the unvaccinated.

so how do you propose to determine death rates, wait 3 months, 6, a year.i went back to a day 3 weeks ago, lag time in death recording should have added new ones to the original count, maybe not all, but more than enough to get a good count.since we are talking death rates, what about the more than likely millions who have had covid, were not tested and thus were not counted as a negative case which would drastically lower the death rate, and yes i know there would also be new deaths listed but not near enough to stop the drop.
