This is not for omicron which is HIGHLY contagious. It didn't exist in 2020. Heck, the paper you quote is even before the delta variant. Not exactly current research.
As an aside, I appreciate both of you are debating but based on evidence. It’s fine to challenge conclusions, in fact that’s the scientific method. But from the inputs of valid, reviewed evidence. Kudos to you both.
Read it again. I cited two articles. One from Science.org. from this past summer. This is why the CDC, NBA etc are all loosening standards. A 35 is not contagious. (-3%) A symptomatic/contagious person with Omicron will test lower than 35. In other words the test runs 34 times and comes back negative, but on the 35th time it picks up some small fragment and dings positive. The higher the load the fewer test cycles it takes to pick up a positive hit. The NBA etc will still sit everyone that hits a 30 or below but the latest data is showing that should now be the threshold. So you only need to test positive on one of thirty cycles. That is still a very strong threshold. No one is asking for these kids to be unsafe. My whole family had Covid during the holidays. Its no fun and I dont take it likely.
Apologies, but even this summer is before omicron and that is way more transmissible than even the delta. Thank goodness it looks to be less virulent.
