Accuracy?

 

Remember when it was called a novel coronovirus, and we sanitized grocery bags, shoes, all surfaces? Then we learned more and could relax on the surface spread ideas. Remember when the previous WH said it was under control and was going away? Perhaps if we had competent leadership: " The medical masks should have been the push from the start and production ramped up to meet need/demand." We might have actually had this happen. Remember when the Trump WH threw out the pandemic playbook? That quote was in it.

 

the statement was not made in a vacuum. the n95 supply was very low because someone let it get that way. we needed to save the n95 supply for the frontline workers who had to deal with covid infected patients.

I wear a gator cloth mask and have yet to get covid. Perhaps everyone should wear gator masks

 

Not entirely true. There was a stockpile of masks along with other pandemic supplies, but Obama chose not to replace them after they were used in an African outbreak (Ebola?). Spending money inevitably means spending a little political capital, and Obama decided that the next president should do that. Trump decided that he either couldn't be bothered, or refused to follow a recommendation from a departing president whose policies he basically ran against. There were two presidents who failed us on masks, not one.

 

How has the current administration done with the pandemic?

Here's some more, "made up" pediatric COVID hospitalization numbers for you to laugh at, while the rest of us take this seriously.

On Monday, the American Academy of Pediatrics reported a sharp rise in pediatric Covid-19 cases. At least 325,340 cases were reported during the week of Dec. 23, compared with 198,551 cases during the week of Dec. 16. While serious illness from Covid is still rare for younger children, the sheer number of new cases worries doctors.

As of Sunday, the number of pediatric Covid admissions had hit a new peak: 1,354 a day, based on a seven-day average, according to NBC News data. And the number of kids who simply occupied hospital beds each day, even if they ultimately weren't admitted to the hospital, reached a record average of 3,081 a day over the last seven-day period.

The article also states that almost none of the kids in the hospital with COVID are vaccinated.

During the week of Dec. 22-28, an average of 378 children 17 and under were admitted per day to hospitals with the coronavirus, a 66% increase from the week before, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Thursday.

The previous high over the course of the pandemic was in early September, when child hospitalizations averaged 342 per day, the CDC said.

378 per day times 7 days in a week equals 2,646, in case you need math and numbers help. Oh, and again, doctors in this article also claim few, if any of the kids they treat in the hospital are vaccinated.

 

And to see why there are hospitalizations. COVID and flu infection at the same time might explain why the kids need to be in the hospital.

 

I beg to differ slightly (only because after the strokes my brain is slightly fried) but I watched that conference. He wasn't asked about n95s specifically. He was asked about masks. He said he didn't see a need for them and that the general public didn't need to go get masks. He emphasized hand washing & surface cleaning way more than aerosol concerns.

 

I have Gator ones up here - that's the fun part of the cloth masks. At least can have some fun. (Ours have filter pockets)

They are in the hospital not because of Covid, but with Covid. Only kids really sick in the hospital are kids with underlying conditions, who I’ve said should be vaccinated. And I don’t believe the most kids are unvaccinated garbage. Until I see accurate data and not someone just shooting from the hip. I showed that the increase in pediatric hospitalizations are mostly from the flu. Sucks for you. But never fear, you are here to be the resident fear monger. You are good at it. .

 

Trump still pushes the vaccine. If you are wearing a proper fitted mask like the N95 then you are helping others. Unfortunately, most masks are dust cloth masks that do not help. You want to discuss competent leadership? How about Biden wearing a cloth mask on the beach walking his dogs?

His Covid failure was one of the many reasons I didnt vote for him.
