Any chance we will be back in action on Wednesday, January 5 against Bama? My guess is we would have heard something by now
I hope the next announcement about Alabama is that, due to Omicron, the Bama v. UGA football championship game is now canceled, depriving both those goober schools of a title.
certainly true, but if the team has not been practicing, not sure if they would send them back to play a game immediately.
Interested to know which of the guys are sick, who has cleared protocols and which of the guys are practicing. Bama game is a huge game and really hope we're ready.
More practice than I would of thought. If there are 1-2 missing they could be back by Monday. Jones should definitely be back.
I am not that worried about my health if I get a breakthrough infection from omicron, but I have other people in my life where it might be a matter. I have given my really good tickets away for that game and that hurts. I really wanted to see this game in person. I just wish that some folks didn't think about this as only about themselves.
Fantastic! Fingers crossed that game will be played - along with the one we missed and all others this season. GO Gators!
I would like to see the NCAA up the positivity threshold like the NBA has and lets see if we can stop this madness. The lack of flow hurts the integrity of the season. Sick guys should not play, but guys that are asymptomatic and only testing positive because of low testing thresholds should be allowed to play.
So it is you at the tip-off going face to face with an asymptomatic guy, all lathered up for the game, spewing virus into your face is OK? Asymptomatic does not mean not infected. I guess that you are fine with that. Even if it results in a Covid case on your team?
I think you need to check the latest data. No one that tests a CT of 35 is likely to be "spewing virus". Recent studies are showing that people with a CT value of 35 (The current threshold for a positive test), have as low as a 3% chance of being contagious. That is why the NBA went to a lower threshold of a CT value of 30 to find true positives. Many people can test positive at the 35 level weeks or months after passing the virus, but they are not contagious. This has been an issue all along. The current testing is too sensitive and dings way to many positives. The data is finally proving this out, and the NBA and NHL soon are the first major dominos to change course. NCAA Hoops should follow. The NBA just made this decision based on data that the lower positivity rate is not likely to spread. Its been a debate for some time now and the evidence is pushing the threshold upward. Your Coronavirus Test Is Positive. Maybe It Shouldn’t Be. (Published 2020)
