    A brief peruse of the Internet lead me to an article referencing the first steps to mRNA vaccines as far back as 1988.

    An unvaccinated person is 4X more likely to have COVID. And will have COVID and be contagious for 48 hours longer than a vaccinated person with a breakthrough. Please explain how my risk is the same?

    I don't live in fear. I'm for making smart choices that not only reduces my risks, but reduces the risks for all around me. It's why I don't drive drunk and wear my seat belt every time in a car. Am I living in fear taking these mitigating steps? Is it wrong for me to tell others to do the same and support laws against drunk driving or not wearing seat belts?

    Actually it is pretty straight forward to explain but you don't seem interested in the truth.

    the truth i see is we are doing 250,000 plus new cases a day with 63% or so fully vaccinated, and 75% with one dose so obviously it is not working as well as planned

    As to the risk let me reiterate we are also monitoring athletes who have been vaccinated to make sure there isn't any myocarditis, pericarditis, arrhythmia, etc, prior to activity. All treatable but can make things worse if they go full out. Continued example being my son. Luckily guidelines have changed where they're having players wait longer & rest prior to resuming activity (my son was told 1-2 days, and that's where the problem started). So please never assume there isn't a risk associated with the vaccine.

    Incidentally he has never ever had a reaction to any vaccine including the flu shot.

    what is wrong, the fact that we are at least 75% semi-vaccinated, or the vaccine does not seem to work on this variant?

    Define "work"

    With a booster it stops infection 70% at peak and 40% at 10 weeks. As to a typical 2 dose it provides very little protection against infection after several months vs omicron.

    As to protection against hospitalization not sure the data is available for Omicron but there's every reason to think it provides significant protection against hospitalization.

    working to me means we do not have 300,000 new cases if the vaccine is good.

    I saw a stat from U of Tenn that their moving 5 day average of new covid patients in intensive care consisted of 87% unvaccinated, 13% vaccinated and that is consistent everywhere.

    That is the point you don't seem to care about.

    It is always the same non-science based right wing talking points. After awhile, you are just talking in circles and to a wall.

    There is no reason to engage. You will never reach them.

    I went back and looked at some of my old charts. One of which was death rate per reported case and that peaked at 6.00% on May 20, 2020. Since then that has continually dropped and is down to 1.56%. I think you could make two points about that and both could be true:

    1. The vaccines have been effective in saving lives by making the virus less deadly to those who are vaccinated;
    2. Omicron variant transmission rate is higher but the virus is less deadly.

    That is all well and good if you are not in the 13%.I have been hesitant to bring this up ,but a month ago by brother in law died from covid. He had all 3 shots and wore masks almost all time so don't preach to me how well the vaccine works,i know firsthand it is not the total cure

    Nobody has called it a total cure. Seatbelts aren't a total cure either. But you're far more likely to die in a car accident not wearing one than you are if you do wear one. It's not rocket science.

    It is amazing how much control the government has gained over people through this…

    But hey…most recent close person I know to get Covid (has it now). Fully vaccinated. Doing fine like most. And it is not necessarily the new drug though it could be helping.

    But hey…it is the healthy unvaccinated person that is the problem to some. Stop worrying about others who make health decisions differently than you.

    The funny thing (well not really) is the overweight and obese (vaccinated and unvaccinated) are the ones who are putting the most stress on the healthcare system. And that is whether it is for Covid or not for Covid. Whether before the pandemic or during the pandemic. But no one wants to talk about that. Because that requires lifestyle changes. And those changes and commitments are not easy. But it sure is easy to scream unvaccinated…

    :cool:o_O:confused::):D:ninja3:

    Pretty sure you are of greater risk of hospitalization if you are unvaxxed and healthy than less healthy and vaxed. I'd like to see if you can produce empirical information that healthy are at much less risk.
