It would be interesting to see some hard numbers on healthy vs other factors. You always here how other factors make it worse, and it is announced 74% of hospitalizations are overweight or obese. But statistically 70% of adults are overweight or obese.

Non-vaxxed in my office have the freedom to wear whatever they want. They just can’t do it at work

He lived free. Exercised his freedom to not be vaxxed. Rolled the dice on a low probability result, the risk of which would have been 1100% (11 times) had he been vaccinated.

When you roll the dice, there are those who roll snake eyes. He just increased his chances.

One NY Er Doctor's personal observations.

NYC ER Doc Breaks Down How Omicron Affects the Boosted, Vaxxed and Unvaccinated

"Every patient I’ve seen with Covid that’s had a 3rd ‘booster’ dose has had mild symptoms. By mild I mean mostly sore throat. Lots of sore throat. Also some fatigue, maybe some muscle pain. No difficulty breathing. No shortness of breath. All a little uncomfortable, but fine," Spencer wrote.

"Most patients I’ve seen that had 2 doses of Pfizer/Moderna still had ‘mild’ symptoms, but more than those who had received a third dose. More fatigued. More fever. More coughing. A little more miserable overall. But no shortness of breath. No difficulty breathing. Mostly fine," he said.

"Most patients I’ve seen that had one dose of J&J and had Covid were worse overall. Felt horrible. Fever for a few days (or more). Weak, tired. Some shortness of breath and cough. But not one needing hospitalization. Not one needing oxygen. Not great. But not life-threatening," he tweeted.

"And almost every single patient that I’ve taken care of that needed to be admitted for Covid has been unvaccinated. Every one with profound shortness of breath. Every one whose oxygen dropped when they walked. Every one needing oxygen to breath regularly," he said.

If you are my age approaching 60, an ideal risk of heart disease is 5% out of 100 over 10 years. That's 0.5% per year. There is a risk of heart attack disease even if you are healthy. At 7.5% a discussion starts about maybe statins are appropriate. At 10% statins are generally recommended.

So conversely, the meds would reduce your probability at most 50%. There isn't a lot of debate about those standards.

The odds of covid death for that age group are somewhat comparable. But a vaccine reduces your risk roughly 90%, give or take.

Yet anti vaxxers seem to trivialize the vaccine benefit because it is "low" to begin with but most would not think twice to reduce the risk of heart disease by a much lesser amount.

Pediatric hospitalizations are up 395% since 12/5 in NYC

Pediatric hospitalizations up 395% in NYC amid COVID-19 surge

The state's trend is having a particularly disturbing impact on unvaccinated children -- even as the state touts a high vaccination rate among adults. Of the 5- to 11-year-old children admitted to New York City hospitals with COVID from the week of December 5 until the current week, none were fully vaccinated.

Children continue to account for about a quarter (23.7%) of reported weekly coronavirus cases in the U.S., according to the report. On average, nearly 200 children in the U.S. are being admitted to the hospital with COVID-19 each day, according to federal data.

Although young people have largely been spared from acute COVID-19 illness, experts stress that children are not immune from the virus. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, children are as likely to be infected with COVID-19 as adults, and the virus is now one of the top 10 causes of death for children ages 5 through 11 years.

The fact you went with an absolute in stating there is “no” risk speaks volumes.

You take the risks you want to take. I support that. Just like I support the risks others want to take.

    “No” risk…LOL!

The dude was on heated hi flow O2 looking at this picture. If he needed that I'm not sure how he even walked out of the hospital. Some people are weird with this disease. One day they see themselves as the epitome of good health and the next they're shocked and in denial when they feel their body has "let them down".

All the sports people have been having mild cases from the beginning of this thing. Before and after these new drugs…

Not true. This article from March, 2021, before the vaccine was in widespread use, outlines several, elite athletes who struggled to recover from COVID. You don't read these stories now that almost all athletes are vaccinated.

On the pediatrics side I think there needs to be some fine tuning & hopefully that's started. My son is 12, over 5'7" and now at 150 lbs. It doesn't make sense that his dose is the same as one of his classmates, who is also 12, but is about a foot SHORTER than my son and maybe 70 pounds soaking wet. His mom took him but backed out because they wanted to dose him at 12 even though his birthday was a week prior. So she's waiting a bit longer.

Hopefully some fine tuning will help parents out.

Sounds like he was acting strange before all this so wondering if he was on steroids, which are notorious for causing heart issues that can remain occult until something serious happens.

Yes the context of my statement should be read as in all sports (or healthy people) mild cases are the norm. As I have always said…there are exceptions.

There are no absolutes in health. Well we all will eventually die. And Covid could be what takes one out. But the data speaks to who is at risk.

well the context of the statement you took issue with was basically that the vaccine poses virtually no risk. And that’s accurate. It doesn’t. The data overwhelmingly supports this. The vaccines are over a year old now. Billions of doses administered. Covid poses a FAR greater risk to a child than the vaccine for covid does. Period.

and i wonder how many businesses fail and people lose their jobs due to government over-stepping their bounds, ie vaccine mandates, how many more suicides and drug overdoses due to how the government has stuck it's nose where they should not.
