They do offer some serious illness protection and I encourage older or immune compromised to get them.

It doesn’t appear at the moment it’s even 25% effective at preventing Omicron infection.
I had read somewhere about that Supreme Court ruling would not apply to our current situation but I can’t recall enough of it to discuss it further.

If new drugs are your thing. Great. They might not be someone else’s thing. And while in the short term there is minimal risk. We have no clue on long term. Considering you can take mitigation measures to avoid the disease…many will choose to try and avoid taking new drugs until there is data supporting their risk tolerance.

Of course they are going to tell you to get vaccinated. It was the CEO of BioNTech. He still wants as many jabs sold as possible.

The data is in. There is no risk to the vaccine but you are 16X more likely to die from Covid unvaccinated.

Testing is an option for the Biden OSHA mandate. In Arizona and California, testing is still free for the standard test. Results come back in 24-48 hours.

The chance that there are long term effects from a mRNA vaccine is nominal. Again, the materials in the vaccine all break down within 8 to 12 hours of injection. The mRNA triggers the immune response then breaks down. The rest of the vaccine is just inert organic material used to keep the mRNA from breaking down too quick. These inert organics also break down quickly.

Compare that to infection, and it should be a no brainer which is preferable. An infection means millions of virus particles, staying around for at least a week. And even if you get a breakthrough case, the vaccine will help you rid yourself of the virus quicker.

There is no better weapon against COVID than the vaccine. Short term safety has been proven. Billions of jabs world wide over the last year. And long term? Almost no chance the vaccine will cause problems. How can it, when there is no trace of the vaccine in the body 12 hours after the shot?

Covid is tearing thru our county in Atlanta. A lot of the cases from friends and coworkers seem pretty mild, but a couple of people getting seriously ill. New sales guy was just hospitalized. 23 year old college baseballer, healthy as a horse and it is crushing him. Didn’t expect that, nice guy, hopefully it works out for him.

This is just not possible. At least according to some experts in this thread. He is not in danger. A mistake must have been made somewhere.

If a CEO were to knowingly get up and spew provable lies he would open up the company and himself to massive lawsuits. Funny here I am lecturing a conservative that sometimes CEOs may actually tell the truth.

guess he had both shots and always wore a mask too.more and more are fully vaccinated yet get covid, check out the nfl for example, vaccines and masks are not the be all and end all to getting/not getting covid, each individual is different, their bodies react different

He is definitely an outlier, plenty of my son's friends have covid now and most aren't too minimally impacted. It is just sad to see for this guy. His dad is hospitalized in South Ga for non-covid illness and the mom is torn. She couldn't come see her son prior to hospitalization because she would poss not be able to attend to her husband when he is released. Tough choices all around.

I guess we don't know but not likely vaccinated.

All of these vaccinated sports people getting it are getting mild cases. That's kind of the point.

It is probably true that if you are in close contact with people all the time, without an N95 mask, the probability of getting infected is high. How serious it is greatly depends on vaccination or prior infection status.

He did wear a mask at work because he was required to since he wasn’t vaxxed. Good news is that he doesn’t seem to have infected anyone else here.

I doubt a half assed cloth mask does Jack vs Omicron.

Non vaxxed in our office aren't allowed to use cloth masks.

Good news about working for a small company where I control just about everything, my rules if you want to work here and many people do.

Omicron is definitely contagious, not sure that is what he has. Delta was pretty prevalent here for quite a bit longer than the rest of the states.

For only the second time in the pandemic, the 7-day average of cases is above 200k. The highest was 250k in January 2021 and we look to be headed beyond that, given the current sky-rocketing increase.

With all due respect the outliers have always been the reason people here have argued against "the data." Outliers have names. Outliers have friends and family. A certain person here continues to dismiss the threat to healthy people but the problem with that is the outlier.

No disrespect intended to your friend's son in any way it's just that unfortunately he illustrates the argument against the poster here who keeps relying on "data" to argue against prophylactics that are of little risk relative to becoming an outlier. And to be sure it's not about winning an argument. It's just that each an every outlier leaves a world of heartache for the friends and family left behind. I say that from firsthand experience.

I hope your friend's son recovers fully.

No disrespect taken. My family and I are vaxxed and are cautious mostly for the benefit of other people. We would prob be fine if we caught Covid but it takes minimal effort to be cautious and I certainly wouldn’t want to be responsible for putting someone in the hospital.
