Why get sick and then take more expensive EUA drugs instead of getting a less expensive fully approved vaccine that will greatly reduce serious illness in the first place?

High risk people that get Covid are fully vaccinated by in large. So they are taking both anyways.

Why take a new drug if you take good care of yourself and you are low risk? Many do not want to take drugs unless needed.

Making stuff up at will is refreshingly liberating as long as you're not hung up on intellectual honesty.

US Army Creates Single Vaccine Effective Against All COVID & SARS Variants, Researchers Say

    This seems promising

Within weeks, scientists at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research expect to announce that they have developed a vaccine that is effective against COVID-19 and all its variants, even Omicron, as well as from previous SARS-origin viruses that have killed millions of people worldwide.

The achievement is the result of almost two years of work on the virus. The Army lab received its first DNA sequencing of the COVID-19 virus in early 2020. Very early on, Walter Reed’s infectious diseases branch decided to focus on making a vaccine that would work against not just the existing strain but all of its potential variants as well.

How does one obtain a "DNA sequence" from an RNA virus?

Interesting vaccine concept. It it like the Novavaxx vaccine on geometric steroids.

However, really poorly written article. This vaccine has not been proven successful against the Omicron variant in people, it has only been tested in vitro, which, I will remind everyone, was also where Hydroxychloroquine showed efficacy against SARS-CoV-2.

Fourth COVID-19 shot needed, says German health minister (trust.org)

BERLIN, Dec 22 (Reuters) - German Health Minister Karl Lauterbach said on Wednesday that a fourth vaccination will be necessary in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic due to the more contagious Omicron variant.

He said that Germany has ordered 80 million doses of a vaccine made by Biontech specifically targeting Omicron and should arrive in April or May.

"An offensive booster campaign is our most important building block in the fight against Omicron," the health minister said.

Lauterbach threw his support behind a general vaccine mandate, saying that without one, it would not be possible to manage coming waves of infection over the long term.

Data show triple-vaxxed more likely to get omicron than vaxxed (wnd.com)

The U.K.-based Daily Sceptic blog pointed out that the data don't "tell us that the vaccines are making things worse overall, only that they are making it much more likely that a vaccinated person is infected with Omicron than another variant."

However, the data do support the claim that the omicron variant has significant vaccine-evading ability.

"In other words, it is a measure of how well omicron evades the vaccines compared to delta," the blog said. "The fact that the triple-vaccinated are much more likely to be infected with Omicron than the double-vaccinated confirms this vaccine evading ability."

The British blog further noted data also show that "the current omicron outbreak is largely an epidemic of the vaccinated and is being driven, not by the unvaccinated, but by those who have been double and triple jabbed."

Can we not have this thread littered with propoganda? The study shows that IF YOU HAVE A POSITIVE COVID RESULT, and you are vaccinated, you are more likely to have tested positive for Omicron vs Delta. Which makes perfect sense.

FDA has approved both the Pfizer anti-viral drug Paxlovid, and now the Merck drug Molnupiravir over the past 2 days. The EUA is more limited for the Merck drug.

Pfizer reports to have 180k doses by the end of the calendar year, while Merck is believed to be able to provide 10 million doses by the end of the month.

New findings confirm that Remdesivir, when given to unvaccinated patients early on in the course of infection, reduced hospitalizations by 87%.

It is shocking this learning has come so late when it was obvious over a year ago that after the viral replication phase of the first 1-7 days or so after infection, that anti-viral treatments are virtually useless. Unfortunately, this is still a drug that needs to be given by infusion over a 3 day period, but this may help to fill the void as effective MAB's against the Omicron variant are in very short supply.

WND? You're not serious are you? And while majority the majority of Omicron infections in the UK may be among persons who were vaccinated it is simply because the overwhelming majority of Brits are vaccinated and are experiencing breakthrough infections and the chances are that those vaccinated individuals are experiencing very mild or even asymptomatic cases. I'm also willing to wager that the overwhelming majority of Omicron hospitalizations and deaths are among the unvaccinated.
The first Omicron death in the US, not the last and the vast majority of lethal cases that follow will have a similar vaccination status.

    Just in case you're interested.
The absurd theory that the vaccines promote Omicron infections certainly falls into the description of WND's content described in the second sentence.

Booster shots protect against symptomatic Omicron infection for about 10 weeks, study finds — which could mean more doses for some in 2022 (msn.com)

    • Booster protection against symptomatic COVID-19 caused by Omicron lasts about 10 weeks, data shows.
    • It may mean fourth doses in 2022 — depending on whether protection holds against severe COVID-19.
    • Immunocompromised Americans can already get an extra shot.
Booster protection against symptomatic illness caused by the Omicron variant drops by up to 25% within 10 weeks, new real-world data has found – though it is not yet clear if everyone will need further doses in 2022.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said protection against symptomatic COVID-19 caused by the variant dropped from 70% to 45% after a Pfizer booster for those initially vaccinated with the shot developed by Pfizer with BioNTech.

In the same analysis published Thursday, the agency found the effectiveness of Moderna's booster paired with two doses of the Pfizer vaccine held at 70 to 75% for up to 9 weeks, though not many people in the study received this regimen, which could affect the accuracy of the finding.

well if the booster only lasts 10 weeks, gonna need more than 1 booster dose in 2022 since, by my last count, there's way more than 10 weeks in a year.
