It is not the sugar. It is the tea.

Defrosting Bolognese sauce for pasta Bolognese tonight. I make a double batch when I make it.

Fixed the pipes under the kitchen sink at a rental house. In our lease if a plumbing problem is due to their error they have to pay. The only time we actually charged our renters was when a sewer line was clogged with tampons. Other things are just stuff that happens.

Anyway some "genius" renter tried to fix the leak with electrical tape, zip ties, and two types of foam. And the biggest leak that they had was from a slip joint without a washer and that one didn't have the electrical tape, zip ties and dual foam "treatment". WTF?

It is now all pristine PVC.

Tonight I’m going to be grilling bone-in country cut ribs indirect over cherry wood smoke. PAT’S HOMADE on the last two turns!

Inside we’ve got a freshly made Romaine salad topped off with vine ripe tomatoes and honest to goodness homemade French fries.

The back porch is open for your pleasure and fully restocked with our preferred adult beverages.

I used to do projects at Eglin AFB. If I ever do again I might take you up on a back porch invitation.

Getting El Indio take-out tonight. Haven't had that in a long time. Not as good as La Tienda, but a much easier in and out.

Foggy, rainy, damp weather day here-perfect to be smelling the pot of ham bone 15-bean soup that’s simmering on the stove for supper tonight. All that’s left to do is making the grilled cheese sandwiches to go with…..

Now if the deer will get up and move-

The back porch is open and ready for your pleasure.

    Escarole soup tonight.

Still waiting on my fancy new gas range I ordered on November 21st with an anticipated delivery not later than December 3rd. Well according to tracking the shipping agent picked it up on December 3rd and it has been sitting in their warehouse in New Jersey since then.

    Sigh.

This is the second post today I would have given a "sad" rating, if we had one. The other was on the basketball thread from someone who couldn't get the streamed Bally Sports game.

I'll send Ray Hines a note asking about it.

All we really have as a substitute now is "friendly", I guess.

Well a small item but finally got around to cleaning my small Hamilton Beach toaster oven. I do it about twice a year.

Take it outside and shake it like crazy in all positions to get as many crumbs out as possible.

Then spray it down with 409. I mean really soak all surfaces good.

Let it sit a bit. Spray it down again and then use a discarded toothbrush to scrub as much as possible.

Then rinse well with hose nozzle on 'jet' position. Then shake like crazy again. Then let it sit out in the sun until dry.

Then I baked some garlic bread for lunch today along with sauce and meatballs I had warming in my vintage Rival crock pot - mmmm good!

It's the little things in life...... ;)

It’s still a dreary day and it was a large pot of ham bone soup-it’s a do over night here for supper.

Probably going with a bourbon and ginger tonight. Ms. Jan will stick with her chilled wine.

Tell me about the ginger. I am not a huge bourbon drinker but I usually drink it neat (most of the time) or with a splash of water (with some of the harsher ones) or with a few rocks (on a hot day).

I do drink black strap rum with ginger beer on occasion. I love an occasional Dark and Stormy.

I agree with I usually drink a more top end bourbon neat (3 of my favorites are Elijah Craig, Eagle Rare, and Basil Haden).

When I want a mixed bourbon drink I go with Jim Beam Black/Extra Aged, cracked ice and Canada Dry Zero-there are obviously several ginger ales to choose from-and that’s my choice. To me a smooth drink and no after taste.
