I remember all the criticism Spurrier used to take for RUTS. So many pontificators, on their moral high ground, accusing Spurrier for RUTS because, basically, he let the 3rd string QB throw the ball in garbage time. And decrying his lack of sportsmanship and calling him all sorts of names. Yet both HS and college girls/ women's b-ball RUTS was quite normal and far more extreme than anything Spurrier had ever done. But not a peep from those same folks. I wish I could say this was abnormal, but its amazing how lopsided female b-ball scores can be. I don't understand the point.
I don't really care about running up scores and stuff. If you aren't prepared to get your ass handed to you every once in a while, then don't play sports. But just for fun, they should make the Georgia Southern Women play the Gator men's basketball team, just so they can see how it feels to be humiliated. They would be lucky to get a shot off, let alone score a basket.
After Texas Southern, are you sure that our Gators could beat them? I sure wouldn’t put any money on it.
Ugh. This is when and how the board becomes insufferable. There are some posters who literally look for any and every opportunity to take a dig. The board has once again become a place where basketball conversation cant help but devolve into the inevitable. I’m gonna take a break for a bit... and go fishing! Go Gators!
Are you referring to "There are some posters who literally look for any and every opportunity to take a dig."
Why did Georgia Southern even schedule this? Carver had a TOTAL enrollment of 60 students. Seriously. What in the world else was gonna happen?
I remember one night some friends and I were shooting around on the outdoor courts at a middle school, maybe 6-8 or so of us, played a little 3 on 3, a little dunk contest on the 8 foot rims at the other side of the court, but mostly just messing around and killing time. Only about three of us really loved to ball, and everyone else was bored. Some old guy opens the door of the gym, and we think he is going to yell at us to get off the school grounds. He invites us to come in and play with his boys. His boys turn out to be a ranked AAU team. I've never been dunked on so many times in my life. We gave them about fifteen minutes and then made some excuses and left. I know exactly how that Carver team felt.
I sure hope coach pulled his starters after 5 min. I would have fouled out, if on the losing team. Hard fouls.
That's what is so absurd and sad about this. At least have a somewhat level playing field. And bringing Spurrier into this is straight up ridiculous.
According to oragator, Carver has a total enrollment of 60 students. I don't recall Spurrier's teams playing schools with only 60 students. But I am sure that you can justify that what he did is somehow relevant to this.
No responsibility on Carver's part? They accepted the match. I wonder if they falsified how competitive they'd be, they don't have a history of playing D1 programs. Liberty crushed them also this year. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Why? Would you rather they show mercy and don't play their best? Wouldn't that be more humiliating? Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
I had my first game of the season with a new free agent team this past Tuesday. Got beat by 40 points. Since I was new to the team and didn’t know anyone, I didn’t try to start the game. By the time I checked in to the game 7 minutes in, the score was 23-0. Final score was 76-36. The other team was in full court press from the opening buzzer to the last second. I have never seen a team throw the ball directly to the defender on every possession like that. Personally, I thought their press was weak and had no problem busting it, but my teammates were just handing them the ball. I was 4-5 from three and 6-9 overall in limited duty. That team was not all that great to destroy us like that, but hey that’s what happens when people who aren’t skilled try to play in a mens league.
