Odd team for so many reasons. Games where they are a fine tuned unit and games where they look like they never played together. I do like this team though.
So frustrating. There is 1 common denominator and we all know what it is. ESPN was questioning if we're even a tournament team. That is not good and frankly unacceptable to be on the bubble again with this team. Really can't feel confident about any games going forward including South Florida. Better win the next 3 because who knows if this team is going to beat Bama. Could very well start 0-4 in the SEC. At Miss - toss up Bama - toss up w/ right now on the wrong side of a pick-em. At Auburn - L LSU - toss up Are the Gators even going 500 in conference? Can't believe how quickly things got bad. There is no reason imo we're not consistently in the top 4 in the SEC and frankly that hasn't been the case for awhile. Hope Stricklin is getting his list ready.
It had zero depth or analysis. It was nothing more than a re-telling of recent results. If you are at all a gators basketball fan... this article provided absolutely nothing.
The analysis was 3 out 4 last games were losses, one of them being a historically horrific loss at home. It isn’t only those of us that aren’t fans of White’s coaching that is starting to see cracks in the armor now, it is sports writers that tell it like they see it. White’s seat needs to be heating up if it isn’t already. If the season goes the way these last four games have gone, White’s seat is gonna be “white” hot. And deservedly so. If SS is smart, he had better be scouting and making a list.
Did you, i or anyone else on this board not know this? The article would have been far more compelling if ... like your post...it ventured into a discussion about White being on the hot seat, and perhaps potential candidates on Stricklin’s hypothetical list. But all it really said is that we have lost 3 of 4, including a really bad one. Well, no shit.
The purpose of posting the article was to show that it isn’t only Gator fans that are seeing problems with the team. It’s pretty apparent that everyone that watches basketball knows that the Gators are going in the wrong direction. SS can only ignore it for so long before the sports world starts asking why he is letting this continue.
Yes… That’s kind of my point. Anyone who watches basketball already knew everything within the article stated. It is a very uninformative article that lacks any substance.
It wasnt an article. It was a synopsis. We all know what happened. This article didn't add anything to that at all. If I said: "Florida fans are wondering what the future will be like because they fired Dan Mullen and hired Billy Napier. They had a terrible season and are down in the recruiting rankings. If they don't improve they will struggle." Is that a good post or just a recitation of events?
This. Gators wire, tried to craft an article based on one paragraph from one relatively unknown ESPN writer. It told nothing. Content...for...clicks. I for one am sorry I gave it any. Give me a hot list of potential hires. Give me a source saying Scott is concerned. Heck, explain why the SEC is the toughest it has been in years ( a bit early for that one)...Give me something beside a glorified box score synopsis.
Unlike Mullen, White does seem to effectively recruit (at least on paper, I know we’ve had a ridiculous amount of churn), and his guys do play hard for him. His offense always seems to devolve into a hot mess though. It’s really all about the SEC. He’s given back the quality wins in OOC with a horrible loss (Texas Southern) and a semi-bad loss (Maryland). This team is like your typical White team, it can beat anyone, but can also lose to anyone (or drop 3 in a row before you know it). You would hope with so much experience we could get it together. But you just know a stuck offense is going to happen several times. So this team won’t be in it for any championships IMO, but I’m still hopeful for a good year (12 or so league wins) and maybe a little further progress in the NCAA. But the realist in me is also seeing it could be more of the same, and more like 9-9 or worse, which would have us in a tough spot.
Maybe so but it is bringing more and more attention to it, that’s the point. How long will it take to make a change in the head coach position if the news continues to print things like this?
