I thought he looked better tonight. Seemed to let the game come to him more and wound up shooting 3-4 from the field with 1 assist. Unfortunately he didn't garner a rebound but overall I'm hoping this is an indication the game is slowing down for him some.
The bench did a great job, Jitoboh included. Him and Felder kept the game from getting away in the 1st half. Appleby almost single handedly kept us in it in the 2nd half. Unfortunately most of our starting lineup didn’t show up (Castleton unfortunately had the foul trouble, still had 9 and 10).
Jitoboh has been a huge surprise and as you hinted, has to learn how to position himself to get rebounds. How someone that size could come away with 0 rebounds is inconceivable
Jitoboh getting better each year. Getting good coaching. Will be a handful next year.20 less pounds by next year can be 12/10 player.
Overlooked is the physical impact that Jitobah can have on an opposing big, leaning and pushing, wearing an opposing big down making him less effective down the stretch
He gave us a solid 10 minutes tonight including a few important minutes in the second half. He came in when we were down 10-3 early, scored a quick basket and helped ignite the team.
We will certainly need Jitobah when we play UK and Tshiebwe, who had 16pt and 12 rebounds today. The uk center is a walking double double. Otherwise, I fear, Tshiebwe will eat CC's lunch. Would love to be wrong about this.
Jitoboh has clearly improved quite a bit from last season, and I would say that he's improved over the course of this season as well. Some of that's simply conditioning. At the beginning of this season, it looked like he couldn't really go more than three minutes without getting winded. He's also gotten better at avoiding fouls over the 11 games so far this season. Less reaching now. I hope he can continue to lose some weight over the remainder of the season. I wonder: could we ever see a big lineup experiment this season? With Jitoboh at center, CC at power forward, and Duruji or Felder at small forward? Just for a few minutes against Stoney Brook to see what happens?
I have said this many many times and trying to understand why he hasn’t played even a little bit more. He had a solid game against Maryland in just a few minutes and then played well yesterday. But what you said is what I’ve said and feel you can’t teach size… People bounce off of him… He is a true physical presence in the paint. He has to play more. Offense has to run through Castleton Had trouble getting started yesterday and still had 12 and 11. We’ve got to work inside out more offensively
100% agree… But he hast to be on the floor At the same time as cc. If not we will get hammered on the boards.
Bench had much higher shooting percentage than starters yesterday. This was supposed to be a good shooting team, but not on display during USF game.
I have to believe that, going forward, we won't continue to have so many guys in shooting slumps simultaneously. Better get it going soon. These 0-fer starts will kill us in the SEC.
His play in the first half against South Florida kept Florida in the game. No more driving the basket unless you want to run into a cement truck. Players like Applybee need to feed him the ball when they can, he has better touch shooting than Castleton and can finish through contact. Castleton gets ft’s But not enough finishing through contact, just not built sturdy enough and not quick enough. he seems to start slow every game. He was a non factor the first 12 minutes of the game, like someone earlier said, jj ignited the team. He is not as good as a defensive player as Castleton, but he gives us a physicality that this team needs! Keep it up big fellow! “Keep playing that rock & roll, keep doing what you’ve been told”................
I thought it was kind of obvious. He would tire too quickly and/or foul too quickly. He seems to have improved over the first 11 games in both areas. JJ got 10 minutes yesterday. It would be nice to get him 12 to 15 against Stony Brook, and maybe work up to a regular 15 by February.
