Okay. Here’s my last reply to you on this particular thread. White is not a top-100 coach. Glover is just one example. Ruzhnetsev was another. Reeves could be the next. I watched the first half of last night’s game against the high school team. People are posting that it was great to see White play a lot of players. Yes he did, as soon as he saw that the game would be a blowout. Reeves came in and didn’t get a touch for several minutes. When, he finally got the ball, he launched an I’ll-advised jump shot. That’s not developing the kid. If Reeves starts next season and is one of the players that White allows to be ball dominant, then he will do okay, but he should be in the rotation right now, and White should have an offense that involves everyone on the floor. It’s unfortunate, but White is not a good coach, and it has been apparent for 6+ years now.
I have been frustrated with White's use of the bench, including this season. But I would have to go re-watch the game to see when the freshman entered. I do know Kennedy came into the game quite early, and while it was still a single digit margin. That doesn't support the contention that White waited for a blowout. Also, the cumulative statistics on this season do not speak to any one player being "ball dominant". Of florida's top 6 players in the rotation, shot distribution is as follows: CC: 100 fga Jones: 82 fga Fleming: 77 fga Appleby: 69 fga McKissic: 64 fga Duruji: 54 fga Florida's scoring is also very balanced among the first 6 players. CC: 15.7 ppg Fleming: 10.6 pgg Appleby: 10.6 ppg Jones: 10.4 ppg Duruji: 9.1 ppg McKissic: 8.3 ppg So, I think the statistics undermine some of your above contentions (at least as it relates to this season, to this juncture), but of course. . . you are certainly entitled to opinion.
Not top 100.WOW You think all SEC coaches are better than White. We would be below 500 and miss the dance every year if true.
Good post, esp. in the evidence you share. It's becoming a strong case for Glover and harder to rebut. My quibbles have not to do with Glover, but: Other players (Chiozza, Mann, Castleton) have developed under White. I wonder how this looks at places like UK, KS, MI, etc. MI fans might be saying the same things about Castleton and PS fans the same thing about Jones, etc. It's too early to reach conclusions about Reeves. He needs serious development. The stroke looks really good and I'd like to hear your thoughts on that, as I recall you have good knowledge on shooting form. Personally, I think he has one of the best looking strokes (maybe the best) on the team, but he's lost on D and lacks any semblance of confidence. He's too disheveled with the ball. Maybe that will change. We probably agree that he needs floor time to develop.
Agreed overall, but one note - many P5 teams maybe would have been happy to land Glover, but didn't have a scholly available.
I'm not compelled to do so. Perhaps I could have said "some" instead of "many," but would you suggest that every single P5 program would not care to have Glover? That was the inference. Tampa has done a thorough job noting Glover's output, including that against quality opponents. The simple fact is that not all teams had scholarships to give transfers at the guard spot.
Glover blew up at the Tennessee state championships winning the MVP over James Wiseman. He already had over 20 mid-major offers, including Loyola of Chicago. His family are huge Gator fans. He is named after Jacquez Green. When Florida offered, he took it. Throw out the 3 games Samford played against Division 2 teams, and Glover’s stats are way better, even though he almost certainly is keyed on by the opposition. Ques was in street clothes in Sanford’s game last night. Hopefully, he is okay.
Perhaps not all had schollies to give... but those that did, didn’t. The portal was very active. I don’t think Glover simply slipped thru cracks. Regardless- he is doing well now, and I am happy for him. I gotta stop getting sucked back into this! Lol!
Appleby would also have good stats at Samford. Seen most players improve, at Fl. Maybe Glover improved under White that's why he's playing well now. Down the road we shall see who turns out better to me both will play overseas.
Scottie Pippin, Karl Malone and Steph Curry also would never have done anything at a Power 5 conference.
His form is ok. Nothing to write home about. Has a hitch in it that I don't particularly like. You can be a great shooter without bad form, and a bad shooter with perfect form. I personally wouldn't describe his shot as sweet looking.
