(WBK) Gators vs. Dayton Flyers, Wed 12/8, 2:00

Just got here, so decided to post and thread and comments as we go along. Currently Gators 11-7 with 5:45 remaining in Q1.

Dayton is currently 3-1. They lost to Duke but beat Alabama A&M, Toledo and Purdue.
I can tell you right now I don’t like their black uniforms with red lettering.

Kristina Moore is injured in a tie up. Trainer helps her off the court, limping a little.

 

Dayton has one player 6’5” from France, and two other players 6’3”.

 

Dayton up 17-15 at the 2:19 mark.

 

Dayton 19-17 at the end of Q1. Dayton is good at defense, not bad at shooting either (although we have managed to block/deflect some). This will be a good test for us.

 

Kiki ties it with a bounce off the backboard. Look on one of the Dayton player’s face was great. Kiki misses free throw, but we get the rebound and a basket afterwards.
Gators 26-24 at 6:31 mark.

 

Technical on Dayton’s bench. Lav makes 2 free throws. Gators up 31-28.

Not sure what the technical was for, although Dayton coach may have been out of box. I also noticed that when we shoot a free throw one of the Dayton coaches yells out a big “HEY” to try and disrupt our shooter. Have never seen a coach do that before.

 

Gators up 40-30 at the half. Lead may change a few more times, though. Good match up.

 

Faith Dut comes in and immediately blocks a shot. Good job, Faith!

With 5:05 remaining in Q3, Gators 43-36.

 

Gators go on a tear. Up 50-38 at the 3:14 mark.

 

End of Q3, Gators 54-44.

 

Dayton on a run and now we’re up just 54-50 with 6:42 remaining.

 

Dayton getting their offensive rebounds and we’re stymied. Gators 54-53.

 

We’re taking bad shots, and rushing them.

 

Thank you, Jordyn Merritt, for a couple of free throws; and Kiki and Lav for baskets. Gators up 60-57 with 23 secs left. Time out, then Dayton with the ball.
