I guess my question would be, was he going to see the field? It seems too soon to transfer(RFR) if you like UF and feel competitive vs the other OL and when practicing against our DL. Do you have a read on this one?
On one hand I have to laugh. Auburn does not seem to be able to recruit OL so well and are going after one of ours because, presumably, they smell blood in the water. I would like to think our new staff when hired knows a few guys on this level that might want to come and play for him at UF with all it has to offer and that in Florida or close enough we can find another couple of guys that want to come here and work hard to develop. We are not going to land a group of four stars so we might as well accept that I guess. Maybe we were played. Perhaps he accepted the UF offer to force Auburn's hand.
I believe he was the backup LT behind Gouriage and I think he should have just let the spring play out and then go from there but whatever. Maybe he ends up at UK which was his 2nd choice
He already hit the field this year when there were injuries, so the writing was on the wall that he was getting chances at LT soon if he had patience. I think there has to be more than a coaching change at work here, and there is no guarantee he is starting next year at UK or anywhere else he has familiarity with coaches.
Odd when you look at Napier producing one of best OLs in country (top 15 rank) and prioritizing big uglies. Especially since you have several OTs departing. Maybe he was close to Hev or other Coaches that will not be retained? Maybe closer to home?
Don't we all know people who just didn't click with a university/town/community/relationships and left looking for a better/happier life (football is just one activity and most of these kids will never make a career of it)? All kinds of things could be going on. Wish him luck wherever he lands.
Bobby, prior to Mullen being dismissed I made a number of posts related to recruiting.....particularly as it related to inside the state of Florida. My main themes were Florida not even bringing in close to 50% of the top 25 within the state, and my assessment that the core issue was a lack of adequate effort with Marketing on the part of Mullen and his staff. My post were continually required to be cleared by someone, before being allowed to post....(if they were even allowed to be posted). I feel somewhat vindicated now, with the information that is coming out related to recruiting with the prior staff......... my only question now is why I had to be put through that process, when its now becoming obviously clear my thoughts at the time were pretty much spot on target?
Not Bobby, but this happens from time to time with everyone that posts here. Also... no one wants to hear the bad news about a coach... especially if we were winning at the time. By the time Mullen hit that loosing streak this year he was fair game... he could no longer be protected. One more thing, don't throw shade on our current players. That's very frowned upon...
Never criticized players, my posts tend to stay primarily in the recruiting forum. Was ironic tonight on Late Kick, Josh Pate went after the very same data points I have been posting about for the last 2 years with regards to recruiting in the state of Florida, by Florida schools since 2016.
