“Every single thing we did bad, the coaches told us to focus on, so, that’s on everybody on the team,” Castleton said. “Whoever played did a terrible job at it, and we’ve just got to take this one and move on from it. But it had nothing to do with what the coaches told us — they told us everything that we were supposed to work on and what we’re supposed to do, and we just didn’t do what we were supposed to.”

Castleton said the coaches did their job, the players failed.

I think some fans read more into his comments about it not being fun any more. He was talking more about the fun of rising to the top vs. the battle to remain up there. If you already had it on your mind that the fans were a problem, then his comments may have felt validating in that regard. But he never explicitly called out the fans for being a problem. He just recognized that it was a different dynamic.

Spurrier was publicly quoted as saying that than fanbase had gotten too used to 10 win seasons and a little spoiled or something to that effect. Does that mean that is why he left FL? Absolutely not.

I don't have any inside knowledge, but I also believe that not receiving the support of his administration (not necessarily just Foley) was one of the reasons he felt it was time to move on, but I still think the bigger thing was the challenge of the NFL presented and not having to deal with the grind of recruiting any longer.

Agree - especially with the 2nd paragraph. This first is what the select fans that don’t like others that criticize at whatever level have used to throw blame and guilt trips. It’s ridiculous. Coaches leave because of reasons like $, opportunity, family, health or better admin - not fans.

Ehh . . . the title of the thread appears to be an instance of "flipping out," but not the content of the message. I see it as a legitimate question. Disagree with you that each season has to be evaluated on its own. There is a body of work associated with the current coaching staff and so far, this season appears to be following a pattern. I agree, though, that we're still very early in the season and the good wins are still important part of the resumé. It sure would be nice to see a sudden turnaround where the team gets back to playing great defense, but given past precedents, I'm not overly optimistic.

It is clear that the players like their coach(es). Maybe a little too much. Maybe we should ask “What would Billy do?”
    Probably a little tough love?
After ripping the entire time a new one at halftime, I would have sat everyone but McK the entire 2nd half. We were dead meat either way so assign responsibility and get some playing time for the bench. At the press conference start by saying “We were awful” and “This was completely unacceptable”. Go from there….
