I thought I saw it posted that we were 0-18 at one point. Either way, 5-24 comes to about 20%. Not going to win many with that.
I think the point isn't about pumping sunshine, it's about preventing the toilet from overflowing. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
I don't agree. They may have played a tough schedule, but their results in those games are far worse than Texas Southern's in their games. Not even close. Kenpom has them as #284 even with the 2 wins. By the way, take a look at Texas Southern's sos. But UNF is playing us in the wrong order to be a scary game. That night was tonight. On Wednesday, look for a completely different effort out of our boys. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
I never thought it was possible for this team to play with no effort as they did tonight excluding McKissic. Very surprised that Fleming didn't show up. Throw Appleby in there as well. Think White should have put the young guys in for most of the 2nd half over guys that didn't even show up. Where are the adjustments from last game? Where are set offensive plays? How about setting some screens to get guys especially Jones some open looks? Where is the accountability where if you don't come to play, you ride the bench? Why are Mike White's teams always so inconsistent and what exactly is the plan to be more consistent? Felt like White didn't show up either in this game which is unacceptable. I agree that this is just 1 game, but there are numerous questions concerning Mike White and this team that it's hard to think this year will be any different that the last several Gator teams. I was really high on this team which is why I'm so disappointed. White better figure out quickly what offense best suits this team. Fans have been asking now for years for White to bring in an experienced offensive coach to help in an area that White's teams has struggled at times. Perhaps White doesn't see it because he has been very willing to make other changes needed to succeed, but for some reason he's been unwilling to make this change.
Let this sink in: Via @ESPNStatsInfo: Florida becomes the first ranked SEC team in history to lose to a SWAC opponent in the AP Poll era (since 1936). Ranked SEC teams were 51-0 vs. the SWAC entering Monday.
Can we please spend at least a few minutes of practice today talking about how to not fall for the backdoor cuts? Just a few? I mean, 'cause maybe our upcoming opponents are eagerly drawing up those plays as I type this?
It looked like this was the year he maybe put it all together and we would be a shoe-in for the tournament and we could just enjoy the team. That was sucked away last night. It is tiring being told if we win one NCAA tournament game every year we must be happy. Since the Chiozza team we haven’t had any team that has a realistic Final Four shot.
Watching the game, that 0-7 team hit every key shot. They grabbed every key offensive rebound. We hit a two, they come back and hit a three. Sometimes you just have to sit back and laugh, because you know your team just ain’t winning the game. We’ve taken the fun out of sports. It’s the “Alabama Effect”. Nobody is happy with competing anymore. Nobody is happy with the journey to greatness. If your coach doesn’t walk in like a Nick Saban and turn the program into a perennial championship winner, he’s got to go. I’m actually sick of this nonsense. Sports aren’t like that. You get a few very rare exceptions like the Patriots and Bama. I can watch a loss and be disappointed, but not lose perspective. It was a bad loss, but it’s one game. Let’s see what happens going forward before we shut down the season.
Arguably the worst UF performance I have seen in 43 years of watching Gator basketball, I did not recognize that team last night. Almost like the whole team went on a bender the night before. Just baffled by it.
I understand all that but the reason all those bad things happened is because UF was not ready to play. Coaches weren't Players weren't Managers weren't Lose by 15 at home to an 0-7 team? Well at least they know that showing up won't guarantee anything, team has to PLAY. Tyree was pathetic from 3. Shooting TERRIBLE from distance. CC better get a handle on turnovers, QUICK!
Imagine if people calling for Mike White’s job were held to the same standard that they want to hold him to by their bosses.
Appleby was just really bad all around. 0 assists, 4 turnovers. 0-6 from 3. And he had some WIDE open 3s that he hesitated on. Makes me think he was just completely in his own head.
I agree with that. Not sure why you would say, “I understand that, but…” Nothing I’ve said would require a “but” in context with your above post. I also said it was unacceptable and embarrassing, but somehow people have it in their mind that I’m excusing the performance last night.
Not fair MH, I get your point but CMW makes millions, most folks don't. Hey I haven't given up 1 bit and dismiss the game as an aberration but man o man, that was a stinker of stinkers.
I've always had the notion the because UF was always a football school first most of the basketball fans ventured over from the world where if you lose 1 game a year your season is over. There have always been crazy overreactions to single game loses on this board, even during Billy's tenure. Doubt it ever changes much. Last night's game was awful and warrants major criticism, but even the best college teams lose multiple games a season. The 2006 team lost 3 in a row and the 2007 team lost 3 out of 4.
Hey I'm on your side, not blaming anyone, just a shocker for all of us, I guess we know what our low ceiling is now. Come on coach, run em till tongues hang out!!!! I'm thinking a few dozen suicides are in order at practice today!
Opposing teams know to slow us down and make us play half court basketball. This is where chuck and duck offenses fail. The OU coach knew exactly what to do against small ball and now the cat is out of the bag. Our defense against slow down paces wears out players and their shooting percentages most nights poor. Even rebounding suffers. We need four bigs that can score inside so we can smash teams slowing it down. The problem is we recruit six guards and a very thin big no D1 team probably wanted. Playing small ball requires a deep bench that actually sees the court, we just shorten the bench when teams have us down, further hindering coming back. I am chalking this up to everyone had a good thanksgiving holiday and chalked up this easy win. Hopefully, changes can be made and use more of the bench. I will watch till the Gators quit playing basketball.
