I am very surprised. I have plenty of concerns about tonite, and White is far from excluded. . . but coaching doesn't explain getting your ass kicked on the boards or shooting 44% from the ft line. I am shocked by nearly every aspect of this game.
I love how the Mike White fan club acts like the negative people are the ones with short term memory. Since Mike White took over, we've been ranked 31 weeks out of 80+ potential weeks and finished ranked twice. The fact that some people are okay with this is sad.
Next 2 games are huge for White to not have this go south quickly.. Hope we don’t end up paying for another SS mistake in the off-season, as I was really hoping MW had turned the corner..
I think it’s fair to be shocked that we lost, but not how. It hit every MW deficiency button at once. Collapsing once we get ranked Bad offense while never holding anyone accountable for bad shots. Roster turnover that left us with a hodgepodge of kids. Criminal lack of adjustments between games defensively when the last two teams we played attacked us the same way. Lack of sufficient big men (outside Casleton) which has been a recurring theme. And criminal lack of in game adjustments. other than that, yeah, it was shocking.
Most of them feel like we have 0 shot at ever becoming a "basketball school" therefore we should settle for 2nd or 3rd in the SEC, the occasional Sweet 16 or an extremely rare Final 4 appearance. While I don't think White is even capable of that, this will satisfy them.
How many losses at home to unranked teams? I’m so sick of this. I’ve been going to Gator basketball games since Neal Walk and Gainesville has always been a tough place to play no matter the coach. We should’ve dominated playing 10 players tonight. W T H
Nice chatting with you all the last 2 months. It was cool to hang on this board for the first time in years, so to speak. I’m thankful I got to watch a solid start, but I will go back to other more productive hobbies. My least fav thing in sports history is watching perpetual underachievement. Just can’t watch it.
No adjustments on defense. Two games in a row, decent teams were able to exploit our defense with backdoor cuts. Tonight, and inferior team blew us out at home employing a similar strategy. Where are the strategic adjustments? Maybe our guys aren't smart enough to teach? I really thought we had a talented group of guys this year, but tonight was Georgia Southern-esque, maybe even worse.

Umm…consistently 2nd or 3rd in the SEC and a rare final 4 appearance would be fantastic. The problem is we’ve been consistently more like 9th or 10th. Thought that was changing this year. This game is a wake up call that we are not going to coast to a top seed in the tourney. Hopefully White gets it together such that we don’t end up a bubble team (again), but this game obviously raises doubts.
Yeah, MW is coach, so you expect a piss down your leg home loss to a vastly overmatched opponent, just didn't think it would be 0-7 TexSo.
We havent been 9th or 10th once, let alone "consistently" . Our SEC finishes under White: 8,2,3,8,4,5
I was afraid of this. We were on a tear, confidence was at an all time high, and the team was gelling very well. Not sure what happened? The first 6 games of the season had me super hopeful. Oklahoma loss... first road game, jitter, etc. But this? Wow. I have been very critical of MW and how soft his teams are. I stated after the Oklahoma loss I was hoping this wasnt a start of regressing to Mike Whites mean, but now I am no so confident. Its really frustrating to watch. The peaks are awesome to behold, but the valleys are pitiful and pathetic. Not sure why MW cannot get consistent play out of his teams. Seems to be a bit of a trend. Go Gators!
