Was just looking at the remaining pre-conference schedule and saw that Maryland should be the only one that might pose a problem (w/o knowing much of the others). Looked up Maryland basketball and saw that they are not doing so well this year and the coach quit today. So, 11-1 going into Ole Miss.
I wonder if there's something going on behind the scenes. I read in an article that they won the Big Ten last year. Been such a crazy year that I don't remember. An early season firing like this is so NHL.
11-1 is a heck of a start to the non-conference early part of the schedule. Hope we finish out and go into Ole Miss with that record.
I would have quit my job at any time for a $5M buyout. Danny Manning is the intrim HBC. I wouldn't count on this being a easy W just because the coach resigned.
Nothing in the article specifying the reason he is stepping down. "Mutual decision" sometimes means something happened they don't want to be made public and just want to move on. Didn't seem to be any mental health stuff. But you never know.....
Maryland is not a very good team. They are 6-3 so far. Their worst loss was at home against George Mason. Their best win was against Richmond on a neutral court. That being said, I agree that it won’t necessarily be an easy win.
Agreed. In 1989 Frieder was removed as the coach at Michigan right before the NCAA's and Steve Fisher guided them to the NCAA Championship. That being said Rutgers doesn't have a player like Glen Rice.
