This is where I am at too. Seems the mandates were effective in getting more/most adults vaxxed. Not worth the fight anymore. We’ve done what we can and I’m fine with pulling back now and turning our focus to therapeutics.

CDC is already on record, vaccinated kids will still have to wear masks. That school nonsense won't end until parents make it end...or move to Florida. :)

So thanks for confirming children aren't major spreaders of covid. Glad we are on the same page.

More data showing to NOT vaccinate kids. But hey, we need to vaccinate kids to see if it's safe, right? Don't worry, the vaccine is safe for kids apologists will be along to poo-poo this or change the subject.

Epidemiology of Acute Myocarditis/Pericarditis in Hong Kong Adolescents Following Comirnaty Vaccination

    Results
Between 14 June 2021 and 4 September 2021, 33 Chinese adolescents who developed acute myocarditis/pericarditis following Comirnaty vaccination were identified. 29 (87.88%) were males and 4 (12.12%) were females, with a median age of 15.25 years. 27 (81.82%) and 6 (18.18%) cases developed acute myocarditis/pericarditis after receiving the second and first dose, respectively. All cases are mild and required only conservative management. The overall incidence of acute myocarditis/pericarditis was 18.52 (95% Confidence Interval [CI], 11.67-29.01) per 100,000 persons vaccinated. The incidence after the first and second doses were 3.37 (95%CI 1.12-9.51) and 21.22 (95%CI 13.78-32.28 per 100,000 persons vaccinated, respectively. Among male adolescents, the incidence after the first and second doses were 5.57 (95% CI 2.38-12.53) and 37.32 (95% CI 26.98-51.25) per 100,000 persons vaccinated.

    Conclusions
There is a significant increase in the risk of acute myocarditis/pericarditis following Comirnaty vaccination among Chinese male adolescents, especially after the second dose.

I have missed 23 pages of this thread, while focusing on the coaches search. Someone fill me in. Is Covid still a thing? ;)

We've all come to an agreement on the masks, vaccinations, mandates, and mitigation efforts. This thread is probably about to fade out.

All cases were acute and required only conservative management. Meanwhile, the risk of myocarditis from getting COVID is still greater than getting myocarditis from the vaccine. And there are other complications from COVID. 0% hospitalizations from myocarditis that resulted from the vaccine. Thousands of kids have ended up in the hospital because of COVID, and sadly hundreds have died. Even with an increased risk in myocarditis from the vaccine, the risks of getting COVID are far greater. And the benefits of getting kids vaccinated, which means lower community spread and lower chance of a new variant makes the vaccine for kids the right choice.

As for natural immunity versus vaccine, one thing natural immunity lacks is trackability. There have been 48.1 million, registered cases of COVID in the US. We all know the number of actual cases is higher, especially since there are significant number of COVID cases that are lightly symptomatic, or asymptomatic. But how many unreported cases of COVID have there been? Tens of thousands? Hundred of thousands? Millions? And how do we track and trace all these unreported cases? That's impossible.

The lack of trackability with COVID cases that have been unreported leaves us with two problems. One, we may never know just how effective natural immunity is. If there are millions of unreported cases, then there could be hundred of thousands of COVID cases in the 48.1 million reported that are actual re-infections. Again, we just don't know.

The other issue is how do we count these unreported COVID cases towards herd immunity? The answer is, we can't. Unless we mandate all those unvaccinated to get antibody tests, again, we don't know the number of people who had COVID, have natural immunity, and should count towards herd immunity. And this assumes natural immunity to be equal across all cases, ethic groups, age groups, etc., which we know is likely not the case, given the competing results on natural versus vaccine immunity trials.

The vaccine solves many of these problems. We know how many and who got the jab. We also are learning more and more about the immunity the vaccine gives over time.

Is that true for healthy kids with no known risk factors?

Good try, but nope. getting the vaccine has a risk of myocarditis and you can still get myocarditis from covid after 3+ months. You are following the lemmings. Not surprising. Facts don't lie.

Only thing you said that was true was "we don't know". We have no idea of the long term affects from the vaccine on kids. That is it for what you got right.

We need vaccines for all the other things that cause myocarditis in kids.
"In children, viral infections are the most common causes for myocarditis. The most common viruses involved are: Rarely, bacteria such as those causing Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, or toxic shock syndrome, or fungus or parasites can cause myocarditis."

There are always risk factors. And one issue with myocarditis is it too can be asymptomatic, and only result in mild symptoms. So it too often goes unreported. But for kids under 18, the risk of getting myocarditis from COVID is 16X that the risk for kids who don't get COVID according to the CDC. COVID causes myocarditis also runs a greater risk of MIS-C, which is a post, myocarditis heart disease that carries far greater risk. As of Nov 1, 5,526 cases of MIS-C and 48 pediatric deaths from MIS-C have been reported in the US.

While still small, the risks for kids getting COVID far outweighs the risk of getting the vaccine. And the vaccine comes with the extra benefits of reducing community spread, and lowering the risk for another variant of concern to arise.

For the record, my 8-year old got his second shot this past Saturday. Spent Sunday on the couch with a light fever and took a nice nap. By Monday, felt good enough to participate in a fun run at school.

That's absolutely not true. But even if you don't believe that, we need to see data breaking things down between known risk factors and those without those known risk factors.

Such a great job of tracking we can’t even get deaths separated by vaccination status. Well we do occasionally. And then it goes away and turns into this percent to make the narrative.

If people would own and be honest about everything instead of coercing and manipulating data for a narrative we would be in much better shape.

While no one was going to be perfect in navigating this as it would be impossible. Thankful for Florida!
