This year I see seven SEC teams with a shot at the regular season championship: Florida, Kentucky, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama and LSU. Kentucky fans will howl later this season (they should be really concerned now) that they were screwed having to play Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama and LSU on the road without a corresponding home date. That is rugged. The only good thing for them schedule-wise is that the don't play Florida at all until the second half of the conference slate. BTW, Florida is currently the highest rated SEC by Pomeroy at #10 with a non-trivial lead over UK. But the other 5 are not far behind.
If we win at Oklahoma, I'll be of a mind to make Florida the favorite to win the SEC. But it will take our best game to win at Oklahoma. Can't afford to miss on many open looks and free throws.
We will need almost as good an effort as we had to take out Ohio State unless we are hot shooting the ball. Right now I think we are the favorite, but no margin for error.
As for Oklahoma I think they are not as good as FSU or tOSU, but they are playing at home and that is a big deal. It will be a tough game.
They aren't as talented as either, or as experienced as Ohio State. But they have a much better coach than Leonard at least.
I didn't give Oklahoma much respect in my post, was not my intent. Goldwire from Duke and Tanner Groves, the Big Sky Player of the year transferred there. ESPN says Florida has only a 42% chance of winning at Oklahoma.
I would say about a 60% chance of winning, but neither one is a done deal. It will be a close game unless the Gators get hot shooting 3's.
I said Troy would convince me and it did: no let down after that OSU win. This team is mentally tough with zero quit. Win or lose, OU will have a battle and it will be fun to watch.
Im fine with that schedule!! Make Cal earn his money….. We would be more prepared for those contests if he would have some balls and do some OOC road tests instead of all the cupcakes and neutral game so so’s. Cal has do many negatives…
It's going to be an exciting season, buckle up and enjoy the ride. Same as you, pleased to see no let down after that tough OSU game. Next challenge will be how they respond to a loss. Or we could just run the table and not have to face that hurdle, I'd be fine with that too
