They looked really good last night. This team most definitely has a gene that’s been missing the last few years. I could be wrong but mckissic seems to make this team go. I like that kids energy
And the sleep walking at 12 to 8 minutes left in the second half thus far is in the past. I saw an indication of a nap but it didn't last but a couple of possessions.
What I like about this team is the way they win. They don’t finesse you to death with graceful moves. They are bullies. This style of play is great, because you aren’t always going to shoot well every night. If your foundation is pressuring and demoralizing your opponent with defense, it takes emphasis off how the shots are falling in. Leads to easy buckets, as well.
Thats how basketball used to be. Didn’t seem to be a problem back then. It seems Coach is more focused on using the portal than bagging the next 5* Scottie Lewis prospect, and I think it makes perfect sense.
Just one McKissic on a team is big time and goes a long way. We have several guys who are just as metal. I'm saying it. At least through 4 games this is the meanest collection since some of Sloan's miscreants.
How many times during the last 7 years have we had a lead late in the game only to have Mike White take the air out of the ball, allowing the other team to come back and beat us. I'm glad he doesn't do that anymore. Attack, attack, attack until the final whistle blows! Also, so far, no long scoring droughts. Free throw shooting has been awesome!
I tell you what. .. Florida has a couple of Dawgs in Fleming and McKissic. Their mentality has to be rubbing off on everyone else. Gators were flat nasty on defense in the first half vs Cal
I've reached the conclusion that team makeup and chemistry, and want-to are the biggest factors in a team's success. There needs to be a certain talent level to start with, but so many ultra talented individuals are average as a team. Then there are others that just mesh together, contribute where their teammates are lacking and vice-versa, and have the will to compete and win.
I caught myself thinking of that during the game last night: what happens next year? It’s natural for us fans to think ahead while we’re watching good things happen right in front of us. For once I’m going to try and enjoy this team this year, and not worry about what happens when the majority of them graduate and move on when it’s over. They clearly care and that makes it fun to watch them play.
Yeah, I hate to get ahead of myself because it's a long season, but it seems like it would be hard for all our guys to go cold like in the past. This team doesn't rely on one playmaker or scorer. The whole team is aggressive and seeks to get buckets. In contrast, you'd almost have to force Scottie Lewis to shoot or push the ball.
Both these guys are high-level defenders. I particularly am awed by McKissic's tenacity on every play.
Every fan base. We just know ours better than the others. In fact, “no fan base suffers wins as much as …….” is a standard across message boards. So no sweat, just human nature. Bama fans are even suffering through football wins at this time.
Yeah, we have a good number of guys who can score. With that kind of balance, we can overcome several guys having bad shooting days.
