yea those schools taking stuff no matter what. And if Dabo starts to take portal kids, and he better, they’ll be elite in that regards too
I want to believe it is that simple but it is not. They are recruiting. We are not. fsu has a slew of OL/DL. UF? At least, for now, the "shiney new bobbles" and "bagmen" excuses are fewer.
Nil is there, we just aren’t spending like the top schools. Get out the checkbooks and bid on that top qb.
Thank you for conceding they do not recruit well. If I exaggerated I apologize. That is fair. To some extent. Beck used UF to get an offer, so we believe. Did he visit? Perhaps unofficially? Did Jalen Carter, Arian Smith, Brinson or Carroll? Okay we were mentioned. Our staff visited them. They received an offer. Same from Kentucky, South Carolina, Florida State, georgia tech, Auburn. When we are really in on a player, or believe we are, there is usually a thread. There was a thread on Carson Beck. We all know what happened there. Of all those players that went to georgia I think only one of the DL and Arian Smith visited. But how involved was UF and our staff, and how well did the staff process the players. I do not have to move the bar. The results speak for the staff and I should leave it at that. Hillarious. Good for you. I can hate georgia but respect the job shart is doing and at the same time disdain for mullen for letting our arch SEC rival gain such an advantage over us. It is as if he does not care, not that he is incapable. That should piss you off. Shart even called mullen's team undisciplined, which was a shot at mullen and an insult to our players. Sad
I think it's a mistake to pay one player so much but water finds its own level. What about the other players? Is NIL money new money or will it be paid by the same revenue stream programs rely on? If it's a QB or two(we sign one or two every year), a monster DT, a RB, etc soon a program could be adding millions to their salary or pay. So, is NIL revenue new money or a cost to the Athletic Department?
Everyone on the planet knows there are recruiting issues, my singular point has been to focus on the facts rather than spin off into incorrect points. I entered this fray because Cuban decided to bestow 5 stars on an unranked OL at West Orange and complain we haven't offered. That silliness distracts from the legitimate conversations that need to occur. Obviously all those kids had differing levels of engagement with UF, but in general that was on their end....UF was recruiting them all and was in the mix. Probably the biggest reach was Jalen, and as I have said multiple times, that wasn't the fault of the staff. And knowing that makes me more cautious in throwing stones re other kids as well.
We’re off topic in here lol @apkgator we riding Livingston out & letting him sign? Armella seems like a wild card bc at one point him being an FSU legacy meant FSU but then LSU gained ground but yet he still entertaining UF. IDK what up with Agbo and if he does or doesn’t have greenlight from Jimbo or if he deciding to really take it to ESD/NSD and UF really in it (because of Evers?). McCoy seems like we lead but he wanna see who our next OL coach it (understandable as im sure all of our OL commits and targets are doing)
McCoy seems most likely, saw him live last week in the playoffs. legit size and quickness, needs better technique as expected. Livingston thing has been completely silent, i guess the new OL coach will weigh in...but i wouldnt bet on him sticking Armella i think we have a decent shot if dad allow it. Just tough to predict until a coach is in place. Does a new guy go back for Nonar, does he have nrw names we get in on? Lot of unknowns
It doesn’t really change anything as to where the money comes from. Just like any sport, they are going to take the best deal. With a 90,000 seat stadium and paying customers, they can figure out how to pay it. Boosters are going to have to pick up that payroll for the players
@apkgator @bobbybaker86 Did you see Elliott Washington 23 DB from Venice already eliminated us? And I promise you we are very very high on him. Not sure what’s up in SW Florida as he and Devin Moore are two big time misses. I was told again last night Moore ( injured right now) is all Notre Dame. Crazy but he knows he’ll get on the field earlier there than here and they are a much better program. Montinar May ( yes he will and not just because he’s a former Naples star) keep us in it maybe. Venice and Naples are two programs where you know kids get great coaching in every aspect. I’m hopeful we grab Duclona a CB from Naples in the 23 class. He’s a take today and hoping we can get him. Again, this is Montinar offering on time and not being behind like we have in the past.
BTW Duclona is like Moore, starting out ridiculously underrated. I see.86. He’s .89-.90 easily. Super athletic kid that excels in 3 sports. Travels with Marresse Speights bball team. Very solid travel group.
All of those teams are either facing a tough future or unknown new HC. Lots of rumors about Harsin being pursued by some west coast openings and he may want to get back out there and own the P12 instead of going .500 after pouring everything into a conference dominated by recruiting instead of good coaching.
I think this is about to change. CBN is going to make it a dogfight to get recruits out of Florida. The days of Kirby and saban calling last minute are OVER!
