Not sure if it was already mentioned here- but y’all see the defense’s argument?

“The firefighters didn’t show up in time.”

    wow.

What bothers me about the coverage of this is, for two weeks you would have thought the world was coming to an end because Aaron Rogers wasn’t vaccinated. But the national sports media can’t be bothered to cover this horrific and entirely preventable tragedy that resulted in the loss of innocent life.

Scum of the earth. There may be honor in the profession but the name of the game is win at any cost and too many are willing to sell their souls to "win" a case. The legal system isn't interested in justice.

The media covers what sells. The talking heads talk about what gets them clicks.

Some aren't for sure but I think it's more ego and arrogance nurtured by a system of coaches, fans, schools and now social media that fuel it. I can't imagine how hard it would be to stay grounded as a high school kid now in the age of NIL and social media. Not that these two examples were products of this latest evolution but obviously it has been a problem going back decades with star athletes.

Not excusing the sentence at all but if I remember right, I think the defense was challenging the consent of the blood draw and the prosecutors probably didn't want to risk losing that fight. Though if you throw out the DUI part, I'm not sure how even driving sober at 150 mph and causing a death like that should only be 3-10 years. I also wonder if the victims family didn't want to go through a trial.

Definitely don't agree with the sentence and think he should consider himself lucky if he only got 20 years. What's going to be really shameful is when he only ends up serving 2/3 or whatever of his ridiculously light sentence.

It spares taxpayers the expense of a trial, when a perp fesses up and admits guilt I’m in favor of plea deals. While it says “misdemeanor vehicular homicide” it does say the sentencing guideline is 3-10 years.

I’ll withhold judgement until sentencing. *If* he gets within in that 3–10 range that is appropriate in my view. Hopefully the judge leans towards the higher end of that range due to the craven extreme nature of the driving and the way that poor woman died. Drunk drivers often get off with nothing, but seems Nevada has some pretty strong laws on this (not many misdemeanors carry 3-10 years in other states!). If he gets less than the 3 years or a slap on the wrist then I’d have a major issue. But that is up to the judge, don’t think it’s wrong for the prosecutor to accept the guilty plea. If the judge dishes out a real sentence in the upper half of the sentencing range justice will be served. Guess we’ll see.

There are two charges - felony charge of DUI resulting in death and misdemeanor charge of vehicular manslaughter

You are correct. So it appears he’s also pleading guilty to the felony? I don’t see what people have an issue with then. But we’ll have to see what type of sentence the judge dishes out. 3-10 is a fairly wide range. 3 would be somewhat “disappointing”, but 10 would be exactly what I called for (as a spitball number without knowing anything of NV law) when this first happened.

As much taxpayer money is squandered I don’t think the expense of a trial should be a concern at all.

This guy’s careless act caused an innocent young woman to be burned to death in her car.

The article I read said they had a warrant to take the blood test. The twice the legal limit reading was likely hours after the event. Imagine what it was at the scene?!

His celebrity status seems to have played a role in his light sentence. 3-10 years. IMHO, WAY too light for the horrific death he caused!
Does he have to serve all the sentence or will he get out in a year or so?!
