I don’t know if we want to do it now, our Alumni section was quieter than a group of seniors in a bingo hall. I didn’t see the whole first half, but I did see the whole second half and we were tearing, ripping FSU to shreds, I hope the old geezers were on their feet. Anyone there at the game can let me know. If they were not on their feet during the second half run, we need to move their tickets to the nose bleed section. At Kentucky they are on their feet at the slightest good play. We can at least get on their feet and clap. SSSSSHH!
You could pay a guy to sit in a seat across the way holding a camera for a few hundred per game Only need for nationally televised games
Some people use to debate flipping the cameras by saying if we show the students then we will see most of them looking at their phones. Well that got blown off the water because many times the crowd behind the Gator bench was sitting in their seats looking at their phones.
Last game I went to in person was a cupcake matchup at the beginning of Wilbekin’s senior year. Ticket lady said there were good seats in the student section. I’m not that old, but NEVER AGAIN. Lol. They stood the whole time and I was like man… I can’t even see and I don’t want to stand for two hours. Side note, Matt Elam sat down next to me and we talked for a minute admiring each other’s Jordan kicks. I didn’t know who he was at first though I figured one if our football players when people kept asking him for autographs and pictures. Cool dude.
If we can really switch it and they (the university to show seriousness) make a donation campaign specifically stating that’s what the funds are being used for then I’m in for $1,000 Can’t be some fan run Go Fund Me crap. Has to be well publicized on social media, etc. by the school.
Students need to be behind the oppising team bench to share the love of the game with the visiting team all game long. I was at the O-Dome once and may as well be at a funeral. You've got your fancy concessions, lounges, jumbotrons and a muted atmosphere even with a student section doing everything they can to inject life and excitement into the game. Get some former players to match some of the dollars in a Go Fund Me with a firm comittment from SS. I'm on fixed income now but I may chip in some if this is for real and for the benefit of students, not the AA or the comfort of well off alumni.
It's truly mind-boggling. This was a known need/want/desire that could have been done for minimal additional cost during recent the recent $64M O'dome upgrades. Equally as mind-boggling as missing/forgetting a bathroom and concession stand during the recent $65M baseball park build. Hmmm.
Give me free tix and a camera and I will do it for 10k per year for the next 80 years. (I want the full payment upfront in case I dont live to be 129. )
I bet if it was competitively bid out and SS offered some free advertising to the awarded contractor through ads on game programs, banners, etc., then one of the UF alum contractors would step up. $400k sounds like a good number. I think we’re approaching $10k from this one thread so far. Keep it going!
And it would be cheaper to send the cables over the top instead of inside. Even with making them weatherproof.
Scottie has a new problem, coming up with a $12 million dollar check for a guy you may have heard something about. He ain't gonna spring for $800K for a few cameras.
