CC has that nice blend of height, long arms and a natural "lengthy body", like Noah, that accentuates his shot blocking advantage. He stays with the plays and goes vertical without getting "tangled" up too much. There is a real art and craft to "shot blocking" and our CC definitely has "it". I expect he EASILY finishes in the top 5 in blocks in the SEC this year, heck, he may very well be the leader at the end of the year.
agree. funny, because he missed at least nine 3's in a row from the corner in warmups, could see the frustration on his face with every miss, but he made it count when it mattered most!
we went small ball at times in the 2nd half with Duruji playing the 5 for a couple minutes at a time to give CC the occasional breather. He played the rest of the half though
It’s a small sample size, but what I’ve noticed is we got a bunch of guys that want the ball and have the confidence to keep shooting and attacking regardless if their earlier shots went in or not. Too often we had guys the last few years that got gun shy after they missed their first few shots or guys that didn’t want the ball in their hands in big moments.
We have a lot of transfers that were alphas at their previous schools, so will (hopefully) start to play more as a team as the season progresses....but I'd rather they be more aggressive than passive, that used to drive me nuts!
Great win but it’s one game. We must continue to play hard on defense. This is not the most talented or big group, but they may be able to win some on grit. We know FSU is very up and down under Leonard. Let’s see what happens when we play one of the top teams. I’m not saying don’t get excited but the excitement must be tempered with some realism.
Most exciting to me is that we played hard and smart the entire game. Never let up. Keep that up and this team may go far
I loved the fact that once we got a lead in the wed half the guys seem to feed off of that and go for the jugular. In years past it seems we tried to coast to the finish line.
The next game with Milwaukee should be a good challenge. If they don't stay focused and decide to take the game off, they will lose.
